  1. Doc , if the Mets were your patient what would you prescribe to fix all that ails them? Sorry for the lame play on your post.
  2. ] "I thought Santos had a better shot," Manuel said. "I think Santos has a little shorter swing, and when you have a little shorter swing, it's easier to get to a guy that's throwing in the upper 90s. If it had been a different, let's say a sinker-slider guy, Castro would have continued to hit."
  3. It's Omir's birthday today.......maybe Jerry wanted him to feel good about himself...
  4. Howie on the radio was great during this move...." Jerry will probably say he's playing a hunch"....
  5. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: "absolutely a riverboat gamble" --Wayne Hagin That was a great exchange from Howie and Hagin....
  6. Howie on the radio saying that it's by design that Santana is done after 100+ pitches , and Manuel told Howie that early in the season no circumstance would cause him to deviate from that...
  7. Matt Lindstrom is our last hope.
  8. Edgy DC wrote: It's not the relievers, it's the strategy. I'M BEGGING YOU ALL TO SEE! I'm with you , why not let Santana go out there , what's another 15 or 20 pitches to him?
  9. Marlins 4 Mets 3 ahhhhhhhhhhh
  10. Games now are just as important as in September , that's from Santana himself.
  11. By the sounds of Hagin Cantu just made a nifty play.
  12. let's get some runs here...
  13. TransMonk wrote: ="metirish"]Send out Santana and if he gets in trouble then pull him. What's trouble? A game-tying homer? That would be trouble alright .
  14. Jerry will check the book and see that it says Putz for the 8th and Rodriguez for the 9th. Send out Santana and if he gets in trouble then pull him.
  15. How many pitches has he thrown ?
  16. Is this the same area where SNY showed Sandy Alomar go over the ground rules with the umps last night during the game?
  17. Just tuned into Howie to hear Hagin call a home run , they are saying the the umps went the video replay.
  18. We used to have Joe McEwing as the emergency catcher and IIRC Woodward more recently. Who on this team would serve in that role?
  19. With the way this new park looks like it's going to play , a lot of doubles and triples , it would seem to suit smart aggressive play . I would like to see Beltran and Reyes play with more abandon .
  20. I love the premise , wish I could help. Best of luck on everything. Good to see you too
  21. Maine 3.5 Santos 2.5 Wright 1 Church 1 Rodriguez .5 Green .5 Putz .5
  22. Watched this last night , not saying it was funny but the awkwardness of it was . It's like he thought his little gag was so funny he just had to get the camera guys back to a shot of his McNabb.
  23. One of the things I and many others liked about interim Jerry was his pushing of the starters to go deeper into games , to dig deep as it were. Full Time Jerry has a quick hook.
  24. Gwreck wrote: All 3 of those other leads were given back by the starters: One of those games was the 4-run lead that Perez gave back against the Cardinals last week. One was against San Diego, where Maine gave up 5 runs in the third inning after the Mets got him 3 in the first. One was Perez's first start against Cincinnati, where the Mets gave him a 3-0 lead and the next half inning he gave 5 back to the Reds. Thanks Greck , that it was the starters that gave up those leads wasn't mentioned in the booth.
