  1. Steve Somers is like the Walter Cronkite of sports talk.....in age terms anyway
  2. Cora doesn't look very professional right there.
  3. Jeez , the umps are having a bad year , how many games are they out?
  4. Nor would I have complained much , if at all. F Martinez I think will be a good major league player , Parnell is a reliever and I would never hesitate to throw one of those in a deal. The Jays might start him , whatever. Niese could work out and the other kid I have never seen.
  5. Tony B showing some passion , I just don't see this as news or anything that I should care about , that's not a knock on you Greg.
  6. Heyman reporting that the Jays tabled an offer to the Mets that would get the Mets Halladay F Martinez Niese Parnell Tejada maybe one more , it was on SNY and I only heard it onece

  9. The thread title hinted at something mysterious , or at least interesting. I'm disappointed . Not in you JCL as obviously you didn't have much to work with .
  10. hustle - Joe McEwing inside - Reyes square Boche macho - Clemens lumber - Howard mustache - Fingers Later - I don't get this one.
  11. Listening to the sports update on the 'Fan yesterday they played John Sterlings call on Mark Texaria's home run. " it's high , it's far , it's out of here , oh Mark with a text message to right center upper deck , you're on the mark Texaria" Hilarious
  12. Finally a team in worse shape than the Mets. I'm not seeing this as a huge series though , nine games back , not since the end of the 2005 season have the Mets been nine back of the leaders. I suppose we could sweep and the Cubs could sweep the Phillies and then i might start getting excited again.
  13. I don't see what you mean by that...I think Manuel might be trying to temper expectations .As Rubin noted Jerry has all but named Niese the starter for Saturday.
  14. Down the swanny she's going lads
  15. I thought maybe he'd done his knee in. Miller has mentioned the espys by my count eight times since they came on before first pitch.
  16. I was just adding to the absurdity....
  17. Looking at the replay I'd say he's done for the season , poor guy.
  18. If Omar thinks this then it might be grounds for getting fired.
  19. Oh it would be borderline alright.....
  20. The Mets demise is bringing out the comedian in JCL.....that was a much needed laugh ....not that you weren't funny but that was a step above.
  21. you're right you know....2003 had Reyes ...IIRC.
  22. ] Even Jerry Manuel admitted as much, joking afterward, "They're calling it cramps; surgery on Thursday." Laughter followed, but Manuel immediately realized he had pushed too far, adding: "I couldn't resist. Sorry, doctors."
  23. ="Frayed Knot":2jjco0k4]Julio Lugo: worse signing than Luis Castillo[/quote:2jjco0k4] I'm sure it's been mentioned elsewhere but this from Lennon ATLANTA - The Mets are interested in acquiring Julio Lugo, who was designated for assignment Friday by the Red Sox. Primarily a shortstop, Lugo - who also has played second base, third base and the outfield - is owed roughly $4 million for the remainder of this season and another $9 million for next year, which is why Boston ideally would like to work out some sort of trade during the next 10 days. If the Red Sox release Lugo, he can be signed for the minimum, leaving Boston responsible for the remainder of his contract. G-Fafif Jul 17 2009 09:13 PM ="Farmer Ted":2zzmo27y]Shoulda kept Reyes at 2nd and Kaz at short. Living in a hindsight paradigm here. Don't mind me.[/quote:2zzmo27y] The last homegrown Met to start a game for the Mets at second was Jose Reyes in 2004. John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 18 2009 05:36 AM Adam Rubin sez Lugo is working out at the Mets complex in the DR while Redding is in danger of whacking to make room for him. Edgy DC Jul 18 2009 08:01 AM Good and good. I mean I guess. It's a baby step when we're more than a baby step over the trouble line.
  24. Don't tell him that the Mets suck , not yet anyway.....
  25. G-Fafif wrote: The Mets were two-hit. If the Mets had been no-hit, would have anybody noticed the difference? Probably not , two hits , no hits....makes no difference , it's still an embrassesment
