  1. Interesting read , especially interesting to read Cashman's thinking regarding Winn , Thames and Reed.
  2. Invite them all and let them fight it out, there seems to be no sure thing at catcher beyond agreement that Thole needs to start in AAA.
  3. Pedro always seems to be fighting to gain the trust of various Mets managers.
  4. A soft rain like applause is sure to fall on Pedro this season. Seriously, it's hard to believe that he was around when Bobby V was.
  5. Sergeant Paul Culver, of Rayners Lane Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: What I'd like to do is knock it on the head before spring comes around. Better hurry up as Spring Training is starting.
  6. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote I'd be a little wary, probably. But conspicuous display of any big-ass self-help book in a workspace hints to me that the guy probably isn't working as much as he should be, or that he's a fan of conspicuous display of self-help books. Either way... This.... I'm not impressed and I become skeptical of the person when I read about the books that are "just lying around" on his desk, not just Jerry as in this case." look at me I'm reading books on Mao and the new book by Jack Welch on leadership"....big fucking deal asshole.
  7. What do YOU see when you read the first few pages of this Bill Nack piece, from the March 13, 2000 SI? First I never heard of this incident before, I see a manager wanting to stamp his authority on a team even if it's the wrong fight and he's going about it the wrong way.Players say Jerry is a great communicator and he may well be but I see a man who can be very stubborn at times , to me Jerry comes across as wrong in the article but that may just be how it is written.
  8. I'll join , never did the NL only thing....I'll sign up later
  9. Coming for the all powerful AL East Wang should eat up the weak NL East , something like that anyway...
  10. John Maine on knowing that the great Koufax was watching his bullpen session "I got a little nervous when I heard he would be watching my bullpen session, and then I didn't have a good one,But needless to say, it's an extreme honor to have him around. And then this....... Though his informal visit lasted only about an hour, Koufax tried to do his part Monday, speaking in particular with Maine for "several minutes" about using both sides of the plate and other trade secrets, according to the Times. He gave me a great analogy, one of the best ones I've ever heard. I'm going to try to use it when I throw again on Wednesday." What could the analogy have been?
  11. Later I will choose later upon reflection
  12. Endy Chavez to the Rangers , $1 million for 2010 if he makes the team ,2011 club option for $1.25 million.
  13. Congrats to you both . Not that it would bother Charlie but that Nutrisystem isn't cheap is it Swanie?
  14. It would be nice , pretty sure that 2013 has been an unofficial date for the Mets since before Citi was built. It might have got promised to them when it was announced that MFYII would host 2008 AS Game.
  15. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that Lastings is going to Spring Training in the " best shape of his life" and that he is ready to " rededicate himself to the game".....
  16. Only five Mets with over 100 rbi? thanks for the laugh Ashie
  17. Damn she wouldn't get hired now days with those meaty ribs.
  18. See this is the problem this off season for the Mets , every FA no matter how good or marginal that didn't end up in Flushing is seen as a snub to a club on the way down or proof that the club is broke.....I am sick and fucking tired of it. Mets fans haven't help in this regard of course.
  19. Ken Rosenthal is the littlest bollox going and it's good to see him get grilled.
  20. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: That's the one. Pretty sure that's Walter Iooss Jr. at work. Yup http://walteriooss.com/ under baseball......in section 46-60 great site btw
  21. No one puts Edgy's thread in a corner.....
  22. Not that high on Thole , or is that about the view of him? Mejia to the bullpen this coming season? , just a personal thing but when I see a kid go to the bullpen who projects as a starter I have very mixed feelings. On the one hand he could do great and the call will be to keep him there and on the other he could be horrible and that could hold him back....
