  1. Fernando Martinez won't be the center fielder going north, Jerry sees that as between Matthews and Pagan with FMart starting in the minors.
  2. So few respondents the first time? That catch
  3. Top of the eighth, Mets 3, Red Sox 1 Two walks and a three-run homer mean the Sox are on the short end of this game. Ramon Ramirez (the original) gave up the bomb to Fernando Martinez. Boston.com
  4. Daily Snooze While all non-player personnel with clubhouse access are randomly tested once a year, Washington, 57, was subjected to increased testing following last July's positive and passed every subsequent test. According to the online report, Washington also called the commissioner's office and alerted the Rangers' front office before the results had come in, warning the league that he might have failed the initial test. 5. I first read that as Anderson Hernandez Chained by seriously, I just used a racist word when I really meant "Guardians" I thought , weird day in MLB.
  6. He's the manager of Josh Hamilton , hardly a good thing for him.
  7. Washington is 57 , it's not like he's a 21 year old trying coke for the first time , at least that would be my impression. I'd say he won't be there long..
  8. Boston.com Top of the fifth, Red Sox 1, Mets 0 Jonathan Papelbon has replaced Lackey. Here's Lackey's line: 4 innings, 2 hits, 2 strikeouts. He threw only 39 pitches, 28 strikes. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/
  9. Yeah he's 1 for 10 or something like that. Meanwhile F Mart is hitting like .600 ....
  10. Nah , nothing like a real correspondent , remember we had the short lived reporting and updates on the minor league teams?. I did the Suns .....I can't think of one guy that made the Mets though. Flores is a Nat.....I remember Gaby Hernandez threw a no hitter....I had Jim Burt and Ambiorix Concepcion as adoptees.
  11. Why the top five quartets ? , it's just foolishness . A teams bench could well be just as important over the season.
  12. From Ken Davidoff in Newsday 4. Who are the injury fill-ins for Reyes and Carlos Beltran? Heyman reports that Tejada will likely join Davis at Buffalo. This would be a mistake, IMO. Tejada would provide at least steady glovework if he starts in the big leagues, and maybe he could even provide an offensive lift of some sort with his speed. Alex Cora won't embarrass the team most days; he just won't help it, either.
  13. Ben Sheets' line today against Cincinnati: IPHRERBBSOHRERASalaryAppearance 0.0810910131.15$10,000,000Overweight WOW he's a fat fucker .... fat fucker

  15. Frayed Knot wrote: metirish wrote: Jay Bell had the story about his dad being a reporter out in LA....that was his contribution.....IIRC. That wasn't Bell. The even less used (74 ABs in 2007) David Newhan was the guy with the (HoF) father sportswriter. Yeeeeeees, sorry to Jay Bell on that. How could I have mixed them up?
  16. LOL....
  17. I suppose it could happen but I just don't see it , and if I am a Cardinals fan I'd hate it. Howard is great and all but Pujols is twice the player no?
  18. So when kids like this are cut don't they just stay in PSL anyway?
  19. Albert comes to town BY ANTHONY MCCARRON For those of you coming to the Mets' tilt with the Cardinals today at Tradition Field, good news: Albert Pujols is listed as batting third in the Cards' lineup. He's a sight to see live, frankly. Whether that's good or bad news for Jon Niese and Fernando Nieve, who are pitching today in their battle for the fifth spot in the rotation, I guess we'll see. Here's the whole Cardinals' lineup: Skip Schumaker, 2b Felipe Lopez, ss Albert Pujols, 1b Colby Rasmus, cf Ryan Ludwick, rf Allen Craig, lf Yadier Molina, c David Freese, 3b Brad Penny, p
