  2. I agree with much of that too, Dickey is a good guy trying to do a good thing,I'm OK with that. Really discouraging to to even entertain the idea that the Mets might be rooting for a void on a $4 million plus contract, and on one of the better players.

Chad Ochoseis wrote: If I were by myself, I would probably try to push through headache and push through nausea and maybe get some kind of altitude pulmonary enema and croak As unpleasant as a pulmonary enema would be, it's the edema that kills you. I've got friends who've hiked Kilimanjaro who are fifteen years older than R.A. and who aren't professional athletes (OK, knuckleball pitchers aren't exactly athletes, either). According to them, it's really no big deal. A group from Ireland climbed it recently, a group that included several youngsters one from my village, aged ten.
  4. that's former manager right there.

  6. Rockin' Doc wrote: I always liked Beltran and feel he was never fully appreciated by the Mets fan base. If he can remain healthy, he is likely to be more productive than anyone patrolling the outfield in a Mets uniform next season. I wish him well in St. Louis, except when playing against the Mets. never fully appreciated , unappreciated , unloved , you see all those things mentioned about Beltran, but I wonder how true it all is?, he got a tough going over in his first year and more as a Met like a lot of players. Is too much made of all that? Plus , is he really on a "HOF path"?

For whatever reason, his insistence on "cut on" as opposed to "swung on" (or, for that matter, swung at or swings in the active voice) drives me nuts. Overall, capable but not optimal. Liked Sample in a TBS sample but this feels a bit like the managerial search of 2010: is this it? Don't have to have a born and bred Mets fan (McCarthy and Robinson grew up as such and it didn't do anything for them). Just don't come off as clueless. LOl, "cut on and missed", this is so true, I can't get it out of my head now.
  8. Surely they vie for the same readers?
  9. I don't know if the Penn State scandal/abuse has empowered victims but there seems to have been a snowball effect since then.
  10. Creep, rival papers but they share the same web space? The Daily News has a full front page pic of the creep. http://phillydailynews.newspaperdirect.com/epaper/viewer.aspx
  11. Not for nothing but Fred needs to hire Ceetar as the seller.
  12. Edgy DC wrote: Report: Jim Duquette, Chris Carlin, Ed Coleman, Billy Sample candidates for Howie Rose sidekick. an inspiring bunch, haven't heard much of Duke but I like him , who is Billy Sample......any ,uh samples of his work? pass on Carlin, give it to Ed I think.
  13. It does make for fun on twitter #metsminorotyownerperks , it'll be trending soon
  14. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I'm just about embarrassed at this point. My exact same thoughts as I read the article, embarrassing.
  15. Wait, Eric Young now gets back Wright and not Turner?, I kid, wouldn't be at all surprised with a payroll in that low range, I expect in actually.
  16. Next thing you know Fred will want to cut the dental plan for the employees.
  17. But the Mets are synonymous with St. Lucie, can't see that going down well, unless of course Fred plans on canceling ST to save money.
  18. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Mets whacking Kingsport Rookie League team in cost-cutting move. Somehow this hurts more than losing Reyes. this thread is depressing, hoping one day to open it with news that they are selling it all.
  19. $51.7 million just to talk.....crazy.
  20. He's not a Mets fan??????, IIRC this gig is his dream gig because he is in fact a huge Mets fan.

I'm growing tired of Burkhardt even in just small doses on TV. pretty sure you're in the minority there. Kevin might be too much of a feel good fan, he's fine doing what he does with the field stuff and occasional studio duties. Love lefties description of Hagin in the airport, agree with FK, a good pbp guy is a must, chemistry with Howie would be nice. I remember loving the radio booth of the Giants during their WS run.
  22. @JonHeymanCBS: mets told a's they wont include niese, ike, harvey, wheeler, mejia or familia. trying for gio, as @Ken_Rosenthal said"
  23. Gwreck wrote: That's infuriating. and his lawyer says they will appeal and Bonds will not admit guilt, he's got some balls......even if they have shrunk.
