  1. Yes, could live with the HR count but RBI would need to be closer or above 100.
  2. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I thought from the beginning that Tejada carried himself like he belonged in the big leagues, but this biz with Terry up his ass has me worried a little. I will predict an exact replica of his 2011: 284/360/335 Yeah, he looks like he can be a major league player and acted as such previously , this thing with Collins is so predictable from him, needs to show the young player what it means to be in the bigs yyybbb, and probably feels that being on his case all year will make him a better player. Straight out of the "Old school" handbook. I think if he handles the glove well and gains confidence he'll be fine...also straight out of that book...geeze
  3. Yeah, I think five years is like a good run for successful teams, it's hard to sustain, being lousy is easier.
  4. The worst of the worst..... http://www.baseball-reference.com/play-index/share.cgi?id=P5Te and the best http://www.baseball-reference.com/play-index/share.cgi?id=axMR
  5. Cue much fawning by the writers and a lot of talk about the core three......Christ but I hate the fucking yankees.
  6. Cheers Greg, I absolutely loath this idea and it seems to be driven in part by the writers this spring. One name , Mr. Koo.
  7. Sure, that's part of the fun, then the merge will happen.

  9. Ceetar wrote: This is the day things start to get serious. Pare down the roster in camp so the big boys can play. 3 weeks and 3 hours until Opening Day, let's get this going. Yes, we have 70 games to win people!
  10. I guess she can count herself lucky that she is from Kansas and not a meth head.
  11. Ceetar wrote: Edgy DC wrote: Coating things in poison is just as much a copout as coating them in sugar. Or we can watch the games, not pretend we know the future, and enjoy baseball? why have a blog then?
  12. Yeah, I tend to like his stuff. Before reading the bit I thought 2015 as being realistic.
  13. On Zimmerman Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, a close friend of Wright's, suffered a similar injury during spring training last year, required surgery and missed nearly two months. Wright is not that concerned at this stage, but he has yet to play in a game since the discomfort first described by the team as in the "rib-cage area" surfaced 10 days ago. http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/david-wright-has-small-tear-in-abdominal-muscle-1.3601846 for a team that really can't afford any injuries this ST has been awful.
  14. Out of the rotation after four starts and on the DL..... 1-2 ERA over 7
  15. bmfc1 wrote: Pelfrey continues to stink. He's given up 2 homeruns already. My hatred for him is in mid-season form. Me too , both home runs looked like they came from the very same type of pitch and placement .
  16. Serious enough to get banned, I hope for his sake it's nothing really serious that will mess up his life.
  17. Yeah, he didn't look at all accomplished out there , depth, what depth? I think he moves between Snooki and Vic on Buckets chart viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17349&p=452244#p452244
  18. Jon Heyman ? @JonHeymanCBS Wright and byrdak flying to ny to be checked out. wright may need shot. #mets what happened?
  19. Christ, was that John Thompson pitching for the Mets?, surely not please.
  20. Six months old!, really puts into perspective how long it has been since the Mets were in the playoffs. A bunch of the other young ones here were't even close to being born......Christ Mets, come on . I remember Valentin was a huge talking point with that game .
  21. Mets Willets Point wrote: Wow. Beautiful. Nothing good has happened for the Mets since then. goosebumps right now watching that
  22. Ceetar wrote: So how about that Jason Bay? Weak 0-fer-3 and a poorly played game in the outfield. He really lights the fire doesn't he. well, it's Spring so I doubt he's really worried about it. Maybe he's saving his hits for the season. Christ man, based on what?, his previous two great seasons with the Mets? you're taking optimism to a whole new level
  23. bmfc1 wrote: Ex-Met Gone Bad: John Shea BREAKING NEWS: #Athletics OF Jason Pridie suspended 50 games, violating minor-league drug program. Agent Matt Sosnick not returning calls. Associated Press OAKLAND, Calif. -- Oakland Athletics minor leaguer Jason Pridie faces a 50-game suspension for violating baseball's drug policy, a person with knowledge of the situation said Friday. The person, speaking on condition of anonymity because details had not been made public, said Friday that the 28-year-old Pridie's infraction was for a drug of abuse rather than a performance-enhancing drug. The San Francisco Chronicle first reported Pridie's violation. pot head?, coke head?
  24. Sue Simmons getting canned at NBC..... http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/03/07/veteran-tv-anchor-sue-simmons-is-losing-her-job/?hp Sue's been steadfast in her MLBS ways, good times and bad. Compare her with Channel 4 colleague Scott Stanford, the second-string sportscaster (and third-rate Dennis Miller impersonator, essentially) who not only can't pronounce Nickeas correctly, but when gently Tweeted about it so he might not blow it next time, claimed his producer's a big-time Mets fan and he says it's Nuh-KEY-us...as opposed to the way those uninformed naifs Gary Cohen, Howie Rose and Kevin Burkhardt say it. Oh, this guy. THIS guy. He's like the terrible, punny, "HEY, LOOK AT ME, FUCKOS" small-market anchor from the '80s reincarnated-- a chattier Ron Burgundy who does WWE shilling on the side. I like Sue a lot... but in terms of bang-for-the-buck (she really only shows up a couple of nights a week, on average), she's probably looking to the Comcast regime like a Donna Karan-ladysuited Jason Bay. I'm looking at Stanford with new eyes since reading this, and boy how right you are....tonight he had all his routine working and it was as bad as it gets....showing a clip of Jones and Granderson nearly colliding in CF he went into song " I'm all out of glove,sp lost without you"......."hey a little Air Supply for ya"...yeah like that is really cool Scott.....now I will just laugh when I watch him. liked the Brooks article why didn't he try and talk to Ron I wonder A Mets at bat is more vivid to me than an at bat not involving the Mets. A Mets prospect is more consequential than any other prospect. Hustling players like Daniel Murphy, charming players like Ike Davis, and funny players like R.A. Dickey are more endearing because they happen to be Mets. I was in the media center of the Mets spring training facility in Florida this week when Ron Darling, the excellent pitcher from the great teams of the 1980s, sat down at the table next to me and started reading The Times. That was a vivid moment, evoking all sorts of memories, though I didnt try to talk with him.
  25. Not only does Frank and Armando share a striking resemblance but it looks like Rey Sanchez does Frank's hair too.
