I'll admit I'm not much of a Tim Burton fan, this bombed IIRC , probably didn't help that Independence Day was same year , a movie that took things seriously, while Mars Attacks didn't, big cast , lots of weird stuff. I don't think I would ever watch it again, a five for me

I think as a movie it is excellent, with a great cast , Stone's views are dubious though and he's made a whole other career with JFK . 3.5 for me

Streaming now on Netflix. I watched it last night , probably haven't seen it since the 80s a beautifully shot movie about a terrible time in Cambodia's history. Nothing is held back , some gruesome stuff. New York Times reporter Sydney Schanberg (Sam Waterston) is on assignment covering the Cambodian Civil War, with the help of local interpreter Dith Pran (Haing S. Ngor) and American photojournalist Al Rockoff (John Malkovich). When the U.S. Army pulls out amid escalating violence, Schanberg makes exit arrangements for Pran and his family. Pran, however, tells Schanberg he intends to stay in Cambodia to help cover the unfolding story -- a decision he may regret as the Khmer Rouge rebels move in. What an odd and dark movie, some great performances, made more odd for me as the dialogue was out of sorts when they spoke ...James Urbaniak was in Oppenheimer Fun to read up on the cast

I watched this Saturday night on Apple TV , streams on Tubi too. I haven't seen it in many years, probably since it first came out on DVD. Anyway, it is all about Denzel Washington performance, if you had asked me before I would have said Jake Gyllenhaal and not Ethan Hawke co-starred . Probably not as good as I remembered, or as good as I thought it was
