  5. A tall glass of piss.
  6. Edgy MD wrote: It's not "jipped," but "gypped," as in "swindled by gypsies." Damn cheap-assed, wandering, Romani Wilpons with their price gauging and flamboyant dance traditions. Got to say I am surprised that either of you used this term so freely.
  7. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Sean Fennessey wrote: They charge $17 for a lobster roll at said ballpark. Besides the point, maybe, but, well... how often has anyone here paid LESS for a lobster roll? all the way at the end in City Island.....you know the one I'm talking about? Sea Food City?.....I'm going to guess it's cheaper there......bit of a kip that place.
  8. Edgy MD wrote: But I just did approve. How do I deserve that? Not picking on you man.....just, I think Megdal gets a bad rap here....I take this as you saying this is what Megdal should be writing?
  9. Edgy MD wrote: The Triangle at Grantland gives us a broader version of what Megdal might read like with a broader viewpoint reaching further afield. I approve. If Megdal {i]did write that you would not approve.....nothing in there less or more offensive than what he does write.
  10. Damn, missed it. I hope they replay it some time!
  11. Even the Times is getting caught up in this There Are Rings in Mets Future Clockwise from top left, Barton Silverman/The New York Times; Barton Silverman/The New York Times; Jeff Roberson/Associated Press; Marc Serota for The New York Times; Barton Silverman/The New York Times; and Marc Serota for The New York Times Clockwise from top left, second baseman Reese Havens, infielder Zach Lutz, outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis, catcher Anthony Recker, infielder Josh Satin and third baseman David Wright had their proposals accepted.
  12. Good work, thanks. Possible , yes.
  13. I'd be shocked if the Mets get 1000 innings out of the starters But there is another, less obvious explanation for the 1,000-inning phenomenonone that particularly matters to the Mets. It turns out that just by pitching a little bit more, the starting rotation could fix the Mets' most glaring problem: the bullpen. the article doesn't say when was the last time the Mets starters achieved this number.
  14. Do we have Turner's squeeze? court_with_a_K Kourtney Jan 13 Some girls dreamt of falling in love w/a fairytale prince. All I ever wanted was my very own ginger cowboy! @redturn2 pic.twitter.com/jiDzCrmH
  15. Edgy MD wrote: The buzz makes it sound inevitable that the captaincy is going to happen this spring. Only open questions seem to be who signs off on it and whether he wears a C. What would Jeter do? Utter nonsense.
  16. Fucks sake, crazy Anyway, Bonnilla and his agent at that time were genius.
  17. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Mets fans are the worst. I think this started happening in earnest around the 05/06 season.....at least in my Mets fandom going back to only the late 90's this has been the worst. There is an element that goes to the games just to boo it seems, the last game I was at with my son the bile coming from thugs around us was embarrassing, there was also plenty of fans in our section trying to drown out that nonsense.
  18. TransMonk wrote: That being said, I'm still pretty put off about his bratty attitude. I would NOT recommend this book if you have a glowing image of Mikey's attitude in your mind. . Thanks, my fave Met ever.....the reason I really became a fan.....I will not be reading this I think....he seems like a twat.
  19. After reading the thread I have no interest in reading this, he sounds like a compete asshole, not how I want to remember him.
  20. I really hope it's not as hard as going from closer to 8th inning guy........Putz couldn't handle it....maybe as MM notes, the hard rock music will get Bobby going....
  21. Mike Puma ?@NYPost_Mets Collins just told The Post he plans to tell Bobby Parnell tomorrow to start working out at closer because of Francisco's elbow swelling Mike Puma ?@NYPost_Mets Says Collins on using Parnell: "We keep talking about 2014, [bleep] why not get a head start?"
  22. Good question, Swisher can hit the long ball so I think that will stand him in good stead with the majority of fans, the suits will likely want rid of both at some point.....not contracts I would dole out but fuck it they are showing their fans something.
  23. Apparently the Mets and Bourne had agreement on years and dollars, just ironing out details with Boras.Mets were his first choice but the draft pick crap was taking too long to resolve.......weeks and not days. That is from Mike Puma at the NY Post
  24. More from TM via Twitter, cool insight on Ricky.....and telling on Piazza. Tim Marchman (@timmarchman) Posted Monday 11th February 2013 from Twitlonger My favorite Rickey Henderson story ever, from Piazza's book: "The Mets released Rickey in May 2000, which meant that he helped us to the playoffs in his only full season with the ball club. He was instrumental in not only getting us there, but in how the playoff sharesthe bonuses earned from MLB for each postseason serieswere divided. The shares meeting is always an interesting exercise in human dynamics, sort of a microcosm of democracy. Rickey was the most generous guy I ever played with, and whenever the discussion came around to what we should give one of the fringe peoplewhether it was a minor leaguer who came up for a few days or the parking lot attendantRickey would shout out, 'Full share!' We'd argue for a while and he'd say, 'Fuck that! You can change somebody's life!' I admired Rickey's heart, but I usually came down somewhere in the middle."
  25. Is the foreword by Sam Champion?
