  9. who considers the team a family heirloom and wants his son Jeff to control it for years to come. this is what I dislike a bout them really, the idea that the Mets are a family heirloom
  10. Obviously he liked it better when the GM would pose for the cover of his book.
  11. I do think EYJ needs to start everyday......numbers are one thing but he just adds something to the team...
  12. I get I would say several (3 or more) emails a day from the Mets, I don't unsubscribe as I have gotten some good ticket deals from them.
  13. Well, IIRC the courting and then signing of Pedro was as much about "hey look at us, we can attract the big name players" as it was about getting a great pitcher(on the downslide), that signing then helped attract the other players.....that is what was peddled anyway.
  14. Not much for me to pick at except this There is no Pedro Martinez and Carlos Beltran now because the Mets do not throw around those types of dollars anymore. Granderson......

  16. Watching this now, have not seen it in years, had forgotten what a gem of a movie this is Director David Fincher followed the success of his dark and atmospheric crime thriller Seven (1995) with another exercise in stylish film noir, this time lifting the pallid atmosphere a notch to indulge in a fast-paced trip through the cinematic funhouse. Michael Douglas plays Nicholas Van Orton, a Scrooge-like San Francisco investment banker following in his father's Scrooge-like footsteps. On Nicholas's 48th birthday (the age at which his father committed suicide), his younger, free-spirited brother Conrad (Sean Penn) blows into town and gives Nicholas a special gift for "the man who has everything" -- a ticket to CRS (Consumer Recreation Services), a company that constructs games custom-fit for each participant to provide, as CRS salesman Jim Feingold (James Rebhorn) cryptically puts it, "whatever is lacking." Nicholas's secure life begins a downhill slide as CRS masterminds a series of elaborate pranks, harmless at first, that quickly become malicious and life-threatening. Stripped of financial resources and convinced that he can trust no one, Nicholas begins to wonder if CRS is a front for a more covert operation, and if the game is in fact an attempt to steal his fortune and leave him for dead. Determined to fight back alone, Nicholas infiltrates CRS in order to "pull back the curtain and meet the wizard." ~ Anthony Reed, Rovi

  18. Darling brings the hammer to the Mets Ron Darling embarrassed by Mets' cringe-worthy 'True New Yorkers' campaign The former Mets pitcher and current SNY analyst said he did not do his due diligence when the Mets' marketing department asked to use his name and likeness on the campaign that has been roundly criticized by fans and media. MIAMI -- Ron Darling said he was blind-sided by the "True New Yorkers" marketing letter from the Mets that had his name on it. The former Mets pitcher said on WFAN that he did not do his due diligence when the marketing department asked to use his name and likeness on a campaign that has been roundly criticized by fans and media. The SNY analyst was one of 10 former Mets players to sign the asking fans to pledge their support as they head into the Subway Series. "It's on me. It's not on anyone else," Darling told the Joe and Evan Show. "I put my name on it. I put my likeness on it. I have to live with it." Darling added that the Mets need to reevaluate and work on their relationship with the team's loyal fans. "What is happened now - and I'm not saying it's rightfully so - but it seems like everything that comes out from the Mets is looked at poorly" said Darling, who admitted that spending and winning would help the relationship. "When you're looking at something where you feel like you're Charlie Brown and Lucy keeps taking the ball out, and you keep kicking because you're such die-hards, I just think that there has to be a re-evaluation of the disconnect and how to reconnect to how (fans) feel and what (the team) is trying to do," Darling said. "And I think that's an obvious thing." Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/mets-insider-darling-embarrassed-true-new-yorker-article-1.1783544#ixzz31B2RQaC4
