  4. This is Edgy enforcing his personal 20 year rule, 20 years being how long Edgy has to wait before criticizing a Met. Rey Ordonez: you're warned.
  5. Our interloper is Mark Difelice. He never played for the Mets. Mike Diflelice did. You might've conflated the two. I doubt anyone would've won a Brewers card of Dick Selma anyway, at least not of Selma in a Milwaukee uniform. You'd be hard pressed to even find a pic of Selma as a Brewer. Thank you for playing this edition of "Find the Interloper(s)".
  6. For the sake of being contrary, the agreement contains this key clause: Nothing in this agreement shall be deemed either an admission or a denial by Peter Edward Rose of the allegation that he bet on any Major League Baseball game.
  7. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Howkum? OK. I see one guy there, who all by himself, pissed me off about as much as any Met ever did, including Rey Ordonez. Maybe even more so.
  8. New and Improved. About 30 additional cards. More than 20 newly represented Mets/Brewers. We searched the web wide for Brewers cards, for the arcane, the hard to find, the collector's holy grails, and the DIY custom cards. Plus an interloper to identify. Winner gets a Zvon '74 Topps Style Brewers card of Dick Selma! 13. Preview NY Mets at Atlanta When: 5:05 PM ET, Sunday, June 21, 2015 Where: Turner Field, Atlanta, Georgia By SportsDirect Inc. Matt Harvey and Julio Teheran are two of the best young arms in the pitching-rich National League East, but as the Atlanta Braves host the New York Mets in Sundays finale of a three-game series, each hurler takes the mound looking for consistency. New Yorks Harvey has allowed seven runs twice in his past five starts, while Teheran is winless in his past five outings. The Mets have battled injuries all season and saw catcher Travis dArnaud leave Saturdays 6-4 loss with a hyperextended left elbow. The defeat knocked the Mets out of first place in the NL East Washington leads New York by a half-game while the Braves have pulled within two games of the top spot. Andrelton Simmons collected four hits for Atlanta on Saturday the second time in a week the Braves shortstop has posted a four-hit game against the Mets. Jason Grilli recorded the save for the second consecutive night and is tied for third in the NL with 20 saves. TV: 5:05 p.m. ET, WPIX (New York), FSN South (Atlanta) PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Matt Harvey (7-4, 3.32 ERA) vs. Braves RH Julio Teheran (4-3, 5.07) Harvey won his first five starts and sported a 1.98 ERA in mid-May, but has posted a 5.32 ERA in his five starts since. The Mets hope the 26-year-old can build off Tuesdays start at Toronto, during which Harvey did not issue a walk and allowed just four hits in seven shutout innings. Harvey, who has not faced the Braves this season, is 1-1 with a 3.46 ERA in two lifetime starts against Atlanta. Teheran was rocked for six runs on 13 hits in 6 1/3 innings Tuesday at Boston, the third time he has allowed six or more runs in his past eight outings. Since his last victory May 21 against Milwaukee, Teheran is 0-2 with a 6.97 ERA and five homers surrendered in 31 innings. The 24-year-old Teheran beat the Mets on April 11 in Atlanta, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits in six innings. WALK-OFFS 1. dArnaud homered and drove in three runs before his injury; he returned from the disabled list June 10 after missing nearly two months with a fractured right pinkie finger. 2. Atlanta 1B Freddie Freeman missed his third consecutive game Saturday with a sprained right wrist; Kelly Johnson has started all three games in Freemans place. 3. New York closer Jeurys Familia may not be available Sunday; Familia experienced left groin tightness Friday and felt discomfort before Saturdays game.

Didn't* the Mets pull a mean prank on rookie Joe Smith, leading him on to believe that he was going to be included on that cover?* *I'm phrasing this post as a question because I don't want to be perceived as a know-it-all on this one. I'm not really asking a question, though. I'm just providing info that everyone here already knows. In fact, it's highly likely that I was the last here to find out about the Joe Smith prank, if I even know about it all.

  17. Edgy MD wrote: There's not a lot of rules here. There's like one. Please don't be breaking it. What rule are you talking about? The one where this scumbag stalks and hounds me for eight years running, pretty much since the day I joined this place, unimpeded and unrestrained, taking subtle and not so subtle personal shots at me, and when I give it back to him, like one out of every ten or twenty shots, you put on that fucking moderator's hat and tell me, and only me, to cool it? 'Cause that rule, I know real good. And don't bother making a red light thread out of this exchange. I'm done responding. You have my word.
  18. d'Kong76 wrote: No reason to get mean. You are the one that posts and separates yourself from everyone as the great knower of all or whatever. I have to answer occasionally because you lump a large portion of the posters here into a basket that doesn't exist. So you're sticking up for those who shouldn't be lumped into whatever basket I was talking about. I see. Even though, of course, you didn't come to my defense in that Castergine thread against those that should be "in the basket". And you also think that because I used the word "fuck" and you didn't, my post was mean, but yours wasn't. And now the new thing is that I think I know more than everyone about everything. Did you come to that independently, or are you just copying what JCL wrote, because it was a knock on me?

  20. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: This is a big deal, sorta. I mean, the feds are involved. I'm not sure how they will be dealt with by MLB but ought to be harsher than whatever the NFL did to show how tough they are on serious crimes like [crossout]murder[/crossout][crossout]wife beating[/crossout] ball inflation. Based on what was posted in the Jeff Wilpon/Leigh Castergine thrad, I know that a lot of you forum members think that MLB should butt out and do nothing here, because, according to youse, it's none of baseball's business unless it happens on the field and also, because the law enforcement penalty would be enough punishment.

  23. Edgy MD wrote: Thing is, the team we'll see over the summer will have a meaningfully different composition from the team we've seen much of the spring. Even if Wright doesn't ever return, the relaunching of d'Arnaud, Murphy, and Herrera, to say nothing of possible contributions on the pitching staff coming from Syndergaard, Matz, Parnell, Black, Mejia, Leathersich, Blevins, Montero, Carlyle, our guest from A-ball, etc., will define much of the team's fortunes going forward. That's the better part of a pitching staff right there. How could you forget to consider who the Mets might pick up when some other loser teams that aren't the Mets throw in the towel and go into dump mode?
