  1. Curious that there is no update on Alvarez.
  2. Eliminating the NL/AL has so many ramifications. All of the awards/records would be affected. There would only be one batting champ, one MVP, one ROTY. There would be no such things as “National League Champions”. And I’m sure eventually everyone would get used to it. But does this really need to be done? One of the cool things about baseball is being able to travel to Boston or Baltimore and root for the team knowing it doesn’t affect your team at all. Eliminating the leagues robs us of that.
  3. When you go to the bullpen too early.
  4. Literally an interview every inning.
  5. Agreed. You can't talk about getting length from your starting pitcher and then not give him the opportunity. If not at 7-1 then when?
  6. Lindor missed a ball. Cost the Mets a run. Then hit a ball that should have been caught. And the Mets get gifted that run right back!
  7. Nice to see one fall for Vientos! Also. There's an interview every inning. Why bother showing the game.
  8. He gets out of it. Lindor has been a mess defensively this year.
  9. Holmes may not survive this inning.
  10. How do you miss that. jFC. Another 4th inning mistake.
  11. Team is spiraling. No end in sight. No solutions anywhere. Stearns roster isn’t perfect but it’s not this bad.
  12. There's nothing more to say.
  13. “Yet to win a game this year when trailing after 8 innings.”
  14. Hard to imagine being this bad.
  15. Why wouldn't they make him bat right-handed?
  16. Isn't it always the 4th inning?
  17. They were down 3 runs with 6 innings to work with against a terrible team. If they felt like their backs were against the wall then that’s on the coaching. This team has played like they’ve had their backs to the wall for 2 months. Something has to change.
  18. I really thought once we brought in Stearns this type of collapse wouldn’t happen anymore. After showing an incredible ability to adjust on the fly last year, this year has been marked by ridiculous stubbornness. Including quadrupling down on Paul Blackburn. How many times can a guy play himself off a team.
  19. In 2021 he had a higher OPS as a right handed hitter. So it’s not impossible. But even then all his power was from the left side.
  20. The problem is, everyone in the organization, and even the media surrounding the team think that the Mets are just going to magically snap out of it. Like it’s just. A bad stretch. It’s not. The offense has been bad all year (4 months plus). It was bad in 2023. And bad for the first two months of 2024. The 4 month run they had in 2024 was the outlier. They need to figure out what was different during that time and figure out how to get that back.
  21. The offense has been bad over the long haul. It's not some bad stretch. I posted in the other thread. They've been bad all year, all of 2023 and the first two months of 2024. This is not a “rough patch”. The good stretch in 2024 is the outlier.
  22. =Gwreck post_id=200725 time=1754708891 user_id=56] …and it's two outs in the 9th inning and that's the tying run. You might not make the substitution in the 7th or 8th, since you're going to need another player to hit in that spot in the order if it comes up again. But when it is literally a score-here-or-you-lose moment, you use the best weapons you have.
  23. Does anyone really believe we're going to tie this game?
  24. Peterson! That’s right. Peterson and to a far lesser extent Megill.
  25. Nothing worse than giving up the lead then having 2-3-4 go down that meekly. This team has no sack.
