  1. I've seen spiral bound books of scorecards. Ask your local Little League or High School coach where to get one. They hold an entire season's games (or more) together, and there isn't any nonsense stuff on the pages.Later
  2. Ok,fingersfinsuncleI giveThe trade sucked - badly.And I have been punished.I am now Joe McEwing.Later
  3. Actually, in-town.Tampa 5MFYs 3WP- Scott Kasmir (3-5) LP- Pavano (who cares?) EDIT: (4-6)Later
  4. Looks like most of them have made it to the majors already, so whoever came up with that rating did a pretty good job.The biggest question I have is, who names their kid Boof?Later
  5. They're probably still pissed that the Brooklyn Bums took away the title of "most beloved team" from their Gashouse Gang. Out there in the heartland, there isn't that much to do other than remember stuff like that. Later
  6. OkI guess this answers my question on the non baseball page about why we like to know the new/ old identity of posters. I missed the intended humor. I felt I had a handle on the "personalities" of many of the posters, but I misread yours. Dang, I wish we could use those emoticons so we could signal when we're kidding. No harm no foul. Now I'll know. Thanks,Later
  7. Who were the ten worst Met position players you ever saw (not just read about)?Later
  8. soupcan wrote:So you are saying that you would NOT approve a Giambi for Cameron trade and you just posted it to see reactions? That you recognize it for the insanity that it is and that you in fact are medicating?First of all, I am a Diabetic and I have to take medication. And I wouldn't wish that on anybody. Why throw acusations like that around unless you are certain of someone's circumstances? I was taught that you don't make fun of someone else's afflictions.I considered it to be out on the edge (the definition of a WATP) ,but certainly not insane (that is such a harsh word). The case may have been weak, but it was a case. I really don't know whether I would go for the trade or not. I posted it because I wanted to see what others felt about it. And I got their input. :(Later
  9. Sorry, Soupy, my trade proposal was a true WATP (with the accent on the Wild Assed). And I gave the reasons for it in my original post. While we wait for Giambi to get back his power stroke, he still has an OBP of well over .400 this year, and isn't that something the Mets are lacking? I posted the trade because it was wild assed, and I just wanted to rekindle the WATP tradition on this new board. I probably expected disagreement, but I took the "ridicule" in the same spirit in which I proposed the trade - with a sense of humor. The list and the premise were indeed tongue in cheek. And I'm surprised nobody has noticed that I missed Yogi Berra, a Met player in 1965.And, I watch my medication very closely, thank you.Later
  10. But, if Piazza is no longer with the team next year, who is going to assume the position of Mets Italian Player? Here's the line from the beginning:Cannizzaro - 62-6566 noneFrisella 67-72Bob Aspromente 71The guy we got in the Ryan Trade 72-7374-75 noneJoe Torre 76-77Mazzilli 76-81 *Bobby Valentine 77-78Tim Foli 79Pete Falcone 79-8283 noneCalvin Schiraldi 84-85Larry Bowa 85* Maz 87-89Phil Lombardi 89Frank Viola 89-91John Franco 90-2004Rico Brogna 94-96Jerry DiPoto 95-96Matt Fanco 96-2000Mike Piazza 98-2005Robin Ventura 99-2001Jeff D'Amico 2002(To steal a line from Top Gun) The list is "long and destinguished".Who will continue the tradition? We need Giambi.Later(that took a long time to type, and now my tongue is still lodged in my cheek. Can anyone help?)
  11. Well, he's not hitting, but at least Mientkiewicz can still play defen...,er, never mind.Later
  12. Thought I'd make the first one on the new board something interesting. As opposed to the Buyer (trade kids for a needed vet)/ Seller (sell a vet for kids) thread, I offer the following vet for vet deal for your consideration:Many are lamenting the Mets need for a middle of the order power hitter , preferably a first baseman. There is one reportedly available. He was injured most of last year, but recently seems to have regained his health, confidence and stroke. His team is reportedly in the market for a centerfielder. Their current one is getting old, and they have no suitable replacement on the 40 man roster or in the minors. And stories have surfaced recently saying that team is interested in a centerfielder currently in the employ of the Mets. So, I present for your consideration/ comments:Mike Cameron for Jason Giambi. And the Yanks throw in a substantial portion of the cash difference in their salaries. I think Giambi will regain most of his pre-juice form and be a productive hitter again. Real soon. If he does, this would be a steal for the Mets.Discuss among yourselves.Later
  13. ]...HE SUCKS..Irish, you are an excellent judge of talent. And a diplomat, too.Don't hold back.Tell us how you really feel.Later
  14. and yadda adds yadda? I always thought they came in pairs. Never saw a single yadda before.I learn new things every day.ThanksLater
  15. And the basically good person in me meant that I really was curious about the answer. Gnat's comment makes sense. And the more that I think about it, some of the CPF-ers like numbers, others like to "see" a picture through words. It makes sense to know who you're replying to.But we basically have our own styles. Thanks,Later
  16. Then, why is knowing this so important?Later
  17. Why is this such a hot issue?Remember "be the ball, see the ball, hit the ball"?Well, IMO, you see the post and respond to the post (or thread topic). Why would someone have a different opinion about, or version of, a response depending on who they reply to? I realize its nice to know, but wasn't this already the topic of another thread? That said, nice job, Doc.Later
  18. The Phils Are Back, and theyre no "Angels" (Spoken) Theyre playin good, theyve hung around And hittin well, every night And even when they arent good They never treat the Met team nice (Sung) We play the Phils and were gonna be in trouble (Oy Vayyy, Oy Vay the Phils are back ) We see them and hope they dont burst Met fans bubbles (Oy Vayyy, Oy Vay the Phils are back ) If they stay hot, theyll turn our team hopes blue (Oy Vayyy, Oy Vay the Phils are back ) If we lose the series, then our season could be screwed. (Oy Vayyy, Oy Vay the Phils are back) (Hey, you know the Mets been tryin) (But, you know that I aint lyin') At first base, Jim Thomes been a killer We all recall when he was the Injuns thriller At second Utley hasnt been there long The guy he replaced was traded for a song And Rollins makes us wish we werent born But Bell at thirds been looking so forlorn (Oy Vayyy, Oy Vay the Phils are back ) (Hey they aint winnin cause theyre cheatin'!) (We hope we can avoid a beatin'!) And Pat Burrell has made all Met fans cry (Boo-hoo, Boo-hoo) If you throw him smoke hell cut you down to size And weve seen enough of Bob Abreu He can hit, and Kenny Lofton, too. (Oy Vay, wait and see) Their starters have a Met killer reputation (Oy Vayyy, Oy Vay the Phils are back ) They make our hitters look like theyre on a long vacation (Oy Vayyy, Oy Vay, the Phils are back ) Starters Padilla, Lidle, Myers and Lieber, too In the pen are Wagner and Ugie, (new) Yeah, the Phils are back (Oy Vey!, the Phils are back ) Look out now, yeah, the Phils are back (Oy Vey!, the Phils are back ) You can see them comin' (Oy Vey!, the Phils are back ) So wed better get a runnin' (Oy Vey!, the Phils are back ) Alright now (Oy Vey!, the Phils are back ) Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (Oy Vey!, the Phils are back) The Phills are back now (Oy Vey!, the Phils are back ) [Fades]******************************************************************************Have to post this tonight, because I will be out of the office most of Tuesday. The only pitching matchup I've seen so far is:NYM - KRIS BENSON (5-2, 3.67)PHI - VICENTE PADILLA (3-6, 6.23)I'd appreciate it if someone can update the matchups. Thanks,Later
  19. I been had (and I feel cheap and used).I promise.SorryLater
  20. Saw a new post on the NYFO site that ESPN radio is reporting thatthe Mets got Barry Zito. Then when I tried to open the thread, the site went down due to "heavy traffic".Can anyone confirm, give some details?Later
  21. If the league were run using the Met organizational philosophy, they would keep sending all the best players back to the instructional league. (is there a Brooklyn team in yor league?)Later
  22. WP, I think you have two NY newspaper slogans confused. The Times; All The News That's Fit to PrintThe Post: All The News That's Shit, They PrintYeah, I got your sarcasm. Later
  23. This discussion reminds me of a line from a very mediocre book called Sheila Levine is Dead, and Living in Brooklyn. It was about a Jewish girl trying to meet a nice Jewish boy. It went something like;"More young Jewish boys have been lost to homosexuality than in all the wars in history".Just because he's "neat" (AND Jewish, AND single) doesn't mean he's gay. I seem to recall that he dated one of HOF Football player Tom Harmon's daughters. Were those rumors mentioned in the recent book about him?LaterEDITS: typos
  24. What part of "Nope" didn't you understand? But you convinced me, you slick talker. I'll take the Phills for the end of June series, too (since you already have my name down for those games). I wouldn't want you to get eraser marks on your monitor.Later
