  1. If Spring Training is where you learn and work on new things, here's a suggestion. Why don't the pitchers learn how to pitch to Brandon Phillips? Later
  2. His destiny for 2017 will be learning to keep the ball in the ballpark as a member of the Binghamton bullpen. Later
  3. Ceetar wrote: Kevin Kaczmarski in the game again. 25 year old never been above A ball. I assume we'll get 56 articles and posts about him tomorrow? He went to college and IIRC he was only drafted and signed two years ago. Later
  4. Best number 4 starter in the league, and better than many #3's. Stays healthy (one short DL scare). 15-7 2.94 31 starts. Later
  5. I see him proving that he belongs in a major league rotation. He will start the season in the rotation while Wheeler is either in EST or the bullpen. And he will stay there. He's in an interesting situation - a pitcher among a rotation of hard throwers - and opponents may find it difficult to ratchet back their swings when facing him. I see 11-6 3.29 in 34 games (26 starts). Later
  6. I have no idea how much time he'll spend with the major league club, but when he does, he'll pitch to the tune of 3.34 ERA in relief. Later
  7. Centerfield wrote: Those stills make him look a bit spastic and awkward. And ugly, too. But, like the A-10 Warthog ground attack aircraft, he gets the job done in the field. And he fields better than any other Mets outfielder. They're not trading him, or the pitching staff would riot. His arm bothered him last year, and his throwing suffered. I think it affected hit hitting, too. He'll be better this year. .280/ .340/ .430. 8- 60 in 400 AB. Later
  8. He'll start the season at Las Vegas, but because of his versatility will be the first player called up when someone gets hurt (or an occasional paternity leave). He may play 20-40 intermittent games, hitting .240/ .310/ 370. Does Mazel (luck) Go Braugh make sense? Later
  9. Edgy MD wrote: Did anybody ask him about how much deliberation went into re-angling the centerfield camera so they could get the woman with the twirling arms out of the frame? I had similar thoughts. Thoughts of him remind me of the good old days when games were predominately shot from the camera behind home plate instead of from center field. You didn't have to change cameras to follow a batted ball. It was better. RIP Later

  11. d'Kong76 wrote: The funny thing is we probably wouldn't be talking about TT if this thread about anything other that TT wasn't posted. SS tomorrow, TT will probably play on one of the SS's. I'll be interested in seeing how he does. But please don't post it here. Later
  12. Edgy MD wrote: This is a place to find that news instead of a catchall Spring Training thread or daily game threads. This is a place to find information about wives and who is and isn't a douchebag. That too. Later
  13. cooby wrote: Okay I don't care what his religion is, as long as he's not a devil worshiper...the point is, he's an athlete and he wouldn't have gotten this far without a firm and solid athletic career, and that has nothing to do with his religion. Exactly. Later
  14. d'Kong76 wrote: No, you're less tolerant of others. No, you are! No.... Funny, isn't it? That's why wars have been fought over religion. Nobody uses or reads words the same way. Later
  15. So, its about baseball and press coverage and an anticipated media circus. I can just hear the local news coverage of the next few games, "The Mets won 17-15. Tim Tebow went 0 for 3. Now for other scores ... " That was all. No offense was meant toward anybody. I don't know how anything I said could be taken that way. And some folks posted in the thread in the spirit in which it was intended. Later
  16. d'Kong76 wrote: MFS62 wrote: You always seem to misinterpret that. Badly. Maybe it's you and not me. Where did I mention religion? You did. Later
  17. Read my response to Cooby. That was not my intention. I wan't spitting on him or his religion. As a member of a religious minority in this country, I don't do that, and condemn anyone who does. You always seem to misinterpret that. Badly. I just think he is getting too much press for someone of his unproven baseball ability. And its MY right to have that opinion. Later
  18. Sorry, Cooby. I didn't mean it that way. This has nothing to do with his religion. He will be such a media magnet for the next few weeks that some news about ballplayers who are fighting for roster spots may slip through the cracks. This is a place to find that news instead of a catchall Spring Training thread or daily game threads. There will be enough places to read/ hear about Tebow and his progress or lack thereof. ESPN will probably have a camera on him constantly. Remember when we were encouraged to start new threads instead of bundling stuff into existing ones? That's what I did. Later
  19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: He may never play in the major leagues, but some day that video of him catching the bat will be sent into outer space so that alien civilizations will be able to see what we're capable of. And what device are they going to play that video on? Later
  20. Benjamin Grimm wrote: If he averages 7.6 strikeouts per inning then there are going to be an extraordinary number of passed balls. Fixed. Later
  21. He becomes mortal and pitches to a pedestrian 3.45 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, with 7.6K /9 IP and 3.8 BB/ 9 IP in 155 IP. (OK, so not too bad) And the fans let him know it. Later
  22. Let's talk about Mets baseball, but not him. Becerra has looked good this Spring. Your turn. Later

    Moana

My grandkids saw it and liked it. But the star who sang the nominated song at the Oscars was awful. I hope it is better in the actual movie. Later
  24. Splits time between high A and AA, showing decent on base skills, little power and good glove. The Mets have several infielders who have shown they can hit, at least at the minor league level. But Luis may be someone who can play good middle infield defense. Those guys are valuable. IIRC, he has won a minor league MVP (or was in the top three in voting) Lets see if he can maintain his average as he rises in level before we can see him making a 25 man roster. Later
  25. Nice family. I hope they are happy in some other city. Later
