  1. Since the Mets' fate is essentially sealed, they can reshuffle and go Scherzer 1 and deGrom 2 in the Wild Card Round. That opens the possibility of Scherzer on short rest in game 5 of the DS. I see little possibility of deGrom going short rest in the DS.
  2. With 4 games scheduled for both Friday and Saturday, game times are going to be an interesting consideration. These of course haven't been announced yet (and won't be until matchups are final). The good news is that between the New York TV market and a west coast opponent, the Mets are unlikely to get one of the crappy afternoon slots. Expected matchups (ordered roughly in expected start order): TB at CLE PHI/MIL at STL SEA at TOR SD at NYM (most likely to get a primetime slot).
  3. =bmfc1 post_id=109719 time=1664764418 user_id=73] I guess the positive is we know that Wednesday's game won't matter so they can line up... the same 3 pitchers that sucked this weekend for the WC series. Sigh.
  4. =Fman99 post_id=109633 time=1664758862 user_id=86] Do you leave Vogelbear in to face the lefty fresh out of the pen?
  5. I know complaining about the ESPN guys is old had but I'm convinced that Eduardo Perez does not have a triple digit IQ.
  6. This is a 1 run game. May gets Swanson and then I think they go to Peterson. (Or just to Lugo for the 5th).
  7. We have to really think about hitting for McCann if he comes up with runners on here.
  8. LGM. We've got this. Fuck that stupid racist chant.

But this comment overlooks the nuance. The Mets could (should?) have called up prospects months ago to see what they could do and get them acclimated. 6 games of utmost importance is not the right spot for a MLB debut (or at least not for someone counted on to be a key contributor).
  10. Alvarez looks totally unprepared for the majors.
  11. I don't know if giving up 4 runs in 6 innings can be fairly described as “adequate” pitching.
  12. Do you mean “last two months”?
  13. Still need the knockout punch. LGM

  16. Mariners won on a pinch hit walk-off homer and clinched a wild card. (Toronto and Tampa also clinched). Toronto up 1.5 for #4 seed but has the tiebreaker over neither.
  17. Down 3-1 in the 7th and Buck doesn't use any of his 4 best (6 best?) relievers. They'd better be available tomorrow and Sunday.
  18. Megill is going to lose his roster spot to Givens…maybe as as soon as tonight.
  19. Fried out of the game? Curious.
  20. https://twitter.com/bravesorganist/status/1575972046231986177 Was this guy ever funny? If so, that stopped a long time ago.
  21. =Ceetar post_id=109243 time=1664580587 user_id=102]Britton is not prone to anything, it's hard to find a blander beat writer.
  22. =Ceetar post_id=109240 time=1664579096 user_id=102] =Gwreck post_id=109239 time=1664578831 user_id=56] Tim Britton of the Athletic said today this was the biggest regular-season series in franchise history.

Who gets that job, though, may not be as clear. I think Vientos is likely to get a spot, but with no guarantee he starts at DH. I saw one suggestion from Tim Britton that in a game started by a lefty, the Mets could put Escobar at DH and Guillorme at third, on the theory that if there's not going to be offense from that spot in the lineup, better then to upgrade the defense.
  25. Glavine?
