  2. The last time the Mets took three in a row in the same ballpark in the same series from the Orioles was October 14, 15 & 16, 1969. This would be a good time to do it again.
  3. I really like seeing the NL prevail in these matchups, but only as a concept. 1-13 would be an ideal practical mark. OE: 2-12, I mean. Go Astros, already yet.
  4. Go select AL clubs!
  5. In support of Hisanori Takahashi: Jose Reyes - SS Angel Pagan - CF David Wright - DH Ike Davis - 1B Jason Bay - LF Fernando Tatis - 3B Rod Barajas - C Jeff Francoeur - RF Ruben Tejada - 2B
  6. Will Hisanori be Tak'tor K or make a Taka-hash out of things? Tune in tonight at 7 and find out.
  7. Dickey 4.0 Carter 3.0 Wright 1.5 Reyes 1.0 Rodriguez 0.5
  8. The other guys tonight are: Patterson LF Tejada 3B Markakis RF Wigginton 1B Scott DH Jones CF Wieters C Moore 2B Izturis SS Their pitcher is Guthrie and he obviously fears R.A. Dickey.

I know its true because he pitched seven sensational innings Tuesday night and Bob Costass drool seeped through my television screen while it happened. As Strasburg struck out fourteen Pirates in seven innings, Costas all but dug up the late Walter Johnson just for the purpose of burying him again. The Big Train was great, Costas solemnly informed us, but he can move on now. Thanks Irish. I've been losing patience with Bob Costas for 23 years. I think I've finally lost it.
  10. Reyes SS Pagan CF Wright 3B Davis 1B Bay LF Carter DH Barajas C Francoeur RF Tejada 2B All in support of R.A. Dickey, who can hit a little.
  11. Road is just home, except with a mint on your pillow (I'm assuming the Mets stay in nice places). No more screwing around dichotomy-wise. Win somewhere besides Citi Field, starting NOW!
  12. My sixth Met one-hitter in person. My second triple play hit into. My ninth consecutive win. I see some things, all right. I believe in hoMe Field Advantage. It wasn't "rocking," per Fran Healy, but I got a sense of Shea at Citi as Niese pitched the ninth. Last time that happened when I instigated a welcome chant of AN DEE GREEN! in a blowout that was going against us. This was more fun than that. What's the difference between a one-hitter and a two-hitter when a no-hitter hasn't been possible for six innings? Greater than you'd think.

  14. Everybody in tonight's lineup, 'cept for Barajas, is either a rookie or under 30.
  15. Naptime now, wakeup time at 7:10.
  16. Met 111: Billy Murphy, 4/15/1966 Met 222: Benny Ayala, 8/27/1974 Met 333: Rick Ownbey, 8/17/1982 Met 444: Chris Donnels, 5/7/1991 Met 555: Jason Hardtke, 9/8/1996 Met 666: C.J. Nitkowski, 9/3/2001 Met 777: Billy Wagner, 4/3/2006 Met 888: Jesus Feliciano, 6/10/2010
  17. The title of this thread is both unfair and untrue. Oh wait, I thought it said "Mike Francesa is not a moron." My mistake.
  18. Reyes SS Pagan CF Bay LF Davis 1B Wright 3B Barajas C Francoeur 2B Santana P

Backpages of the Pest (IKE CREAM!) and Snoozeday (Mike And Ike) were Ike-intensive but kind of lame. Strasburg will only debut once. Davis will be awesome repeatedly (presumptuous nature of that statement notwithstanding).

Doc flashbacks again, huh? Yeah, me too. Wasn't thinking about Doc, actually. Something about the way there was the hype and the kid exceeded it, Pirates and all. The way he got stronger as the game went on. Seven K's to close out his last seven batters. If that hack Riggleman had left him in, I wonder if Tom's record of 10 would have been safe. It was beautiful, no matter how much dread he inspires in the practical long term.
