Brooks Raley has been re-signed for 2025, with a 2026 option, per Joel Sherman. He will continue rehabbing from Tommy John surgery.

Helms's passing was reported (or at least first seen by me) about an hour after I filled him in as my Reds 2B Immaculate Grid answer Sunday.

Maybe hitting balls to deep center will work better in West Sacramento.

Baty error leads to Megill scathing and exit. Kranick in.
10. G-Fafif
Megill struggling but unscathed. Offense not yet clicking.

Today's Immaculate Grid is the perfect understated salute to one of its true legends.

First-place Mets, btw.

The Mets are wearing a 7 on their sleeves, respecting the legacy of Ed Kranepool and, perhaps, aspiring to extend their winning streak beyond six. If they each wish to play as Mets for 18 seasons, that's a good goal, too. Tylor Megill vs. Max Meyer at 1:10 PM on SNY.

In a modern non-Met context, I've drifted into “hey, good for them” at odd postseason intervals for the Nationals in 2019, the Marlins in 2020, and the Phillies in 2022. Which is not to say I like any of them — or the Braves ever at all (1982/1991 NL West affinity notwithstanding).

He was featured on the big board to the crowd's delight last September, and I had zero idea there was any backstory beyond that young fellow appearing…interesting.

At the FanFest in January, Bobby V copped, without anybody prodding him, that he should have gone to Octavio rather than Rogers in Game Six.

I wrote about Dotel after he became the only 1999 Met to take part in winning a World Series in the years following that close call. My happiness for him transcended that it was for the Cardinals. https://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2011/10/29/%E2%80%9999-faltered-but-dotel-ain%E2%80%99t-done/https://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2011/10/29/%e2%80%9999-faltered-but-dotel-ain%e2%80%99t-done/

Octavio Dotel died while being transferred to the hospital after the Jet Set collapse. He was 51. https://www.newsweek.com/sports/mlb/former-mlb-pitcher-dies-following-dominican-night-club-collapse-reports-2057034https://www.newsweek.com/sports/mlb/former-mlb-pitcher-dies-following-dominican-night-club-collapse-reports-2057034 A splendid debut with the 1999 Mets. A heckuva well-traveled career.

Mets seek their sixth consecutive win at 4:10 PM on SNY (or at chilly, windy Citi Field, if you dare). Connor Gillispie taking on Clay Holmes summons to mind Unit 4 + 2…which happens to add up to 6!

Vlad Jr. doesn't need to be talked about any longer — 14-year, $500 million extension with the Blue Jays widely reported as done.
25. G-Fafif
Mets attempt to grow their winning streak to five versus the eternally pesky pesci, 7:10 on SNY. Senga on the mound for the homestanding New Yorkers. A yet to be announced Marlin pitcher who's not Alcantra (paternity leave) will oppose Kodai's bat-wielding teammates.
