  1. Fuck you Ibanez. And all your teammates. And all your former teammates.
  2. This game is feeling like the kind of game we won't want mentioned when they do this again in two weeks. But it's early.
  3. Warmed up for the deHughesining with Men In Black 3, partially set on July 15-16, 1969. Features "my favorite moment in human history," wherein "a miracle is what is not possible but happens anyway." If you haven't seen the film or the commercials, do the math.
  4. Gee pitches after these guys hit: Kirk Nieuwenhuis - RF Andres Torres - CF David Wright - 3B Lucas Duda - DH Daniel Murphy - 2B Ike Davis - 1B Jason Bay - LF Josh Thole - C Omar Quintanilla - SS
  5. 2.5 GB of WSH for NLE; 1 GB of SFG for NL WC-2.
  6. Quintanilla 1.0 Wright 0.5 Duda 0.5
  7. WFAN saturation coverage has Benigno and Roberts interviewing Sandy at MFYS III. Benigno asked Sandy for his no-hitter reaction. Sandy talked about his reaction morphing from "rationalist" to "visceralist," two words I'm guessing don't come up often in Benigno's life. I appreciate Sandy not talking down to Joe. And kudos to Joe for not talking up to Sandy, I suppose.
  8. Are colleges that aren't from California, Texas, Florida, Louisiana & Arizona even allowed to win the College World Series? Literal answer: South Carolina won the last two; Oregon State won in '06 and '07. And before that, the last time it wasn't one of those states was Oklahoma in 1994.
  9. Non-photographic version for IGT purposes: Kirk Nieuwenhuis - CF Josh Thole - C David Wright - 3B Lucas Duda - DH Daniel Murphy - 2B Scott Hairston - RF Ike Davis - 1B Jason Bay - LF Omar Quintanilla - SS And after they bat around a few times, Johan Santana pitches.

  11. Devoted Mets fans endanger opportunities for romance, health and security to go to Tuesday night game and then act awfully generic in their swell Citi Field seats.
  12. With 47 K's thrown in over those 49.2 IP.
  13. Doc from August 31 to October 2, 1985: 49.2 IP without an earned run. One unearned run in the top of the first inning against the Pirates on September 21 sullied the scoreless streak, perhaps, but Doc felt so bad about it that in the bottom of the first, he hit a three-run homer.
  14. 8 o'clock Eastern on 7/1, presumably.
  15. Bonus points to Fman for even having to think about some of the more squirm-inducing imagery. I refer, of course, to anything having to do with the MFYs.
  16. bmfc1 wrote: I think Bob Raissman was stoned when he wrote this: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/imagine-flip-side-subway-ride-article-1.1091869 In 2005, with 'FAN and 'CBS both part of the same corporate behemoth, Howie did an inning with Sterling while Gary did an inning with Waldman. It was more distracting than enlightening. I used to enjoy Raissman, back when he used to report stuff.
  17. And to think all that personal information was right there in the MFY press guide.
  18. NL EAST, THROUGH GAMES OF 6/7 WSH -- ATL 1 NYM 1.5 MIA 2 NL WCs, THROUGH GAMES OF 6/7 SFG -- (0.5 GA ATL) --- ATL -- NYM 0.5 MIA 1 PIT 2.5 STL 2.5 Notice who doesn't rate a mention at all at this time, but if they did, they'd be tied with Arizona for sixth place in the race for the second Wild Card, 5 GB of Atlanta...and last in the N.L. East, 6 GB of Washington.
  19. Into each life, some rain must fall. But just a little.
  20. Terry in the postgame said R.A. is OK as long as the weather cooperates. Makes me think somebody -- maybe the Braves -- will try a rain dance if he keeps going as is.

  22. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: He wouldn't be where he is today were I not cracking the whip, but he's earned the right to 2 movie premieres and a guest slot on Letterman. Git along little Dickey! You and Warthen, good cop, bad cop. However you guys want to sort it out.
  23. Eddie passed Cleon on 5/4/76. Genesis of the hit record here.
  24. Benjamin Grimm wrote: It's probably been close to 40 years since somebody was this close to Kranepool. What a sad commentary on the Kranepool marriage.
