  1. Don't love the word “pimp” getting play, but the dude seems harmless. Hasn't yet lost its charm a la the Diesel Donnie Stevenson shtick of 2021.
  2. From the Athletic: Jack Leiter was little more than a toddler when he approached a preschool classmate and asked, “What team does your dad play for?” That is how ingrained baseball was in the Leiter family. That is how normalized the expectation of becoming a major-league pitcher always felt. “I just thought everybody played baseball,” Leiter said Wednesday at Comerica Park. “For the 5-year-old me it was an expected thing. As I got older it was a dream, a goal, and then you start to visualize it, and then it becomes a reality.”
  3. Marv, especially when Marvelous.
  4. Remember him being claimed on waivers by the Mets after the Twins made him available.
  5. Tyler Jay DFA's as reattachable Michael Tonkin is picked up anew on waivers from the Twins.
  6. Baty not looking at an IL stint, per Mendoza.
  7. 189. Joey Wendle 04/16/2024
  8. Oisk addressed our NY Giants Preservation group over Zoom a couple of years ago. Generous with his time, his memories and his graciousness. The phrase “all class” comes to mind.
  9. One-two punch of passings. [tweet] [/tweet]
  10. One of the few times I can recall seeking out an MFY broadcast — just looking for a ballgame on a Saturday afternoon in 1991 when I went into the office and the Mets weren't playing until later — I heard Sterling frame the MFYs' last ups as whoever was batting having “one shot” to tie it up here with a home run. He said it repeatedly, never pausing to consider the batter getting on meant the inning would continue and the tying run could be built from there. “One shot.” I wasn't in the mood to give him another.
  11. Al Leiter is about to be the father of a major leaguer.
  12. Ken Holtzman, Cubs and A's stalwart, 78. Won more games than Sandy Koufax, if you get my MOT drift. Still haven't forgiven him for doubling off Matlack in the World Series.
  13. Your most recent NL Player of the Week is Pete Alonso.
  14. A Cub minor leaguer prepared to form a battery with fellow brief Met Ali Sanchez at Iowa, Julio joins Dan Wheeler and Bartolo Colon in the guild of Mets pitchers who started in Atlanta on a night the Braves commemorated milestone anniversaries of Henry Aaron's 715th.
  15. White Sox and Tommy Pham are reportedly close to a deal.
  16. Butto and Hartwig are up, Sulser and Jay have been optioned. The Citi Field PA is pumping out hits of the '80s to set the mood for the man who gave up so few of them back then.
  17. Mets pick up catcher named Joe Hudson. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/04/mets-acquire-joe-hudson-from-cubs.htmlhttps://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/04/mets-acquire-joe-hudson-from-cubs.html
