Phillies lose, dropping them into a second-place NLWC2 tie with the Mets and Cardinals, a half-game behind the Brewers. D'Backs are 1 1/2 back, Giants 3, Reds 4 1/2. In the NL East, Brave loss to Marlins lifts us to within 8 of first place.
Everybody in the organization who might plausibly materialize for Players Weekend has been assigned a nickname, but not Jed Lowrie. Or maybe it's listed but nobody can see it.
Mickey, in his weekly WFAN spot, confirmed that Lowrie exists (he literally said this) and that he's making vague moves toward baseball activities, baseball activities being an expansive umbrella that might include posting to an electronic bulletin board thread that wonders whether Jed Lowrie exists.

Alonso surpassed Hundley's pace with his 9th home run. He and Beltran were close until his 14th home run. Only the drought made it a little close recently between Pete and Todd. Jeff McNeil – RF Amed Rosario – SS Michael Conforto – CF Pete Alonso – 1B J.D. Davis – LF Wilson Ramos – C Todd Frazier – 3B Adeiny Hechavarría – 2B Steven Matz – LHP
The ballpark videoboard Tuesday night touted a Matz vs. Yamamoto throwdown at ten minutes past noon Wednesday. We'll see if Jordan wants to come out this time to face the Mets. Steven? He's ready for anything, which I suppose include sucking, but that is the least preferred course of competitive action. Oh yeah, we're going for the sweep. Keep your broom graphics with an arm's reach of desire.
