  2. The probability score that this game eventually ends is currently 1.3%.
  3. An immobile Francisco Lindor, accurately positioned, would be having a better night than Guillorme.
  4. Hot fucking damn.

  8. Grade 2 strain of Lindor's oblique. No timetable for return.

  10. Lindor to the IL with a strained oblique. Blankenhorn called up.
  11. Stroman committing the sin of exuberance for retiring a batter evoked a memory of then truly unknown Terry Leach pumping a fist upon striking out Dusty Baker at Dodger Stadium on July 17, 1982 (almost 39 years to the day). When the Dodgers completed their inevitable ninth-inning comeback off Neil Allen, Baker, according to a few articles I was able to access, gestured angrily toward the Mets dugout, clarifying later that it was intended only for Leach and berating himself for stooping to Leach's level. Given his career arc and background, I've considered Leach kind of a proto-Dickey. Perhaps I should amend that to proto-Stroman. Leach for his part said he was just doing what he'd always done, which was a little surprising in that during is previous Met appearances, Terry didn't come off as particularly emotional on the mound and when he established himself a few years later, his manners couldn't have been much milder. It was a big deal for a day or two. When the Mets stomped the Dodgers the next afternoon, they were very much “this is for Leach,” particularly Stearns and Bamberger. Still, Terry didn't mention it or his apparent trademark emotion in his 2000 memoir.
  12. Keith tonight told a story about that one time he faced young Expo callup Randy Johnson, as Ronnie did recently. They each cited essentially the same frightening experience. Johnson never faced the Mets as an Expo.
  13. Gelbs was on earlier with some background on Dave Jauss's BP pitching prowess, but Steve did vanish for long while thereafter.
  14. Lindor's injury is termed right side soreness. The right side is always sore about something.
  15. Some would call this thread title rash.
  16. =kcmets post_id=71444 time=1626398853 user_id=53] Has anyone seen a prototype or teaser image of what these uniforms will look like or are we to assume they'll be like the one Edgardo donned for years?
  17. Peter Golenbock, Davey's collaborator, isn't all about the accuracy.
  18. From the official release… The Mets will [also] wear black jerseys August 13 vs. Los Angeles Dodgers; August 27 vs. Washington Nationals; Friday, September 10 vs. New York Yankees; Friday, September 17 vs. Philadelphia Phillies.
  19. On July 30, it's gonna get dark at Citi Field.
  20. Dick Tidrow, whose 13-year major league career ended as a member of the Mets' bullpen, has died at 74 (July 10, 2021, in Lee's Summit, Mo.). In more recent years, he was part of the San Francisco Giant front office that build three world champions. https://nypost.com/2021/07/14/dick-tidrow-ex-yankees-pitcher-and-giants-exec-dead-at-74/https://nypost.com/2021/07/14/dick-tidrow-ex-yankees-pitcher-and-giants-exec-dead-at-74/
