  1. i think after a loss we should just let whoever wants to start it (and has something to say other than "woohoo i started it") do so. i like the idea of staying with the same person after a win though.
  2. before you complain about pitchers being diluted why not: 1. build ballparks to the dimensioms they had pre-1970 2. use the old baseball (the one where you could rub it and move the covering around) instead of the juiced one 3. force the umpires to call the strike zone as it is written in the rulebook, there are no high strikes called anymore. 4. get rid of the stupid DH, an idea that has polluted the game for far too long. i think you'll see an approriate drop in scoring if you implement even two of those ideas, especially the DH. on edit- 5. put the height of the mound back where it was pre-1968. i don't think pitching has changed at all, i think the rules of the game have steadily changed to favor the hitters.
  3. this is so fuckin stupid that its funny. i'm just waiting for some perverted sicko to file suit because he's not allowed in the women's bathroom.
  4. the more likely way of obtaining that is to have 16 teams in each league whenever they eventually expand again with either 8/8 east/west or a stupid (for baseball) 4/4/4/4 like football has. i'd rather keep the divisions larger myself. with the league the way it is you simply arent going to get a fair schedule. i'd hate to see interleague play all year long, especially since you want as many division games as possible in september, also you'd eventually get an AL team whining about having to sit their DH the last 3 games of the year in a penant race. I don't like interleague to begin with, but in it's current form it is at least tolerable, i dont think i could stand seeing it all year.

  6. i'm cool with the wristbands but pink bats? thats kinda lame
  7. best big-game pitcher at least and possibly the guy with the highest peak, but he just didnt have the longevity
  8. no more bullshit!

  10. help your "comrade pitcher" lower his ERA!
  11. ]Bullshit-theres no time clock in baseball. and you can technically score a TD, recover the onside kick and score again and then do it again in football, that doesnt mean a team up 21 is throwing with 3 minutes left
  12. fuck anna benson.
  13. disrespecting your opponent is bullshit. its the same as throwing the ball up multiple scores in the closing minutes of an NFL game or trying to get quick shots off up 25 in the closing minutes of a basketball game.
  14. Hernandez is too young (i'd put the cutoff around 27 but it could be higher or lower) to be sitting on the bench, he needs to play every day and if that won't be here it should be at AAA, the player and the mets are both better off in the long run if he is getting regular ABs in.
  15. i dont think you tag up unless the ball is hit deeply enough that you can walk home, you also dont steal bases, its just the right way to play the game, and if i were the phillies i'd peg someone tonight.
  16. woah. are we supposed to tag up with a 9 run lead? i smell a HBP coming today or tommorow.
  17. since we ARE in Philadelphia... Did the Mets bats cause the dent?
  18. this is my kind of game, i'll be back for the recap
  19. it is pretty ridiculous, but like the title of the thread says, roger did it too. What Roger did was in some ways worse, I think he had a greater intent to hit someone that Young did, I think Young just wanted to flip it near him in disgust. On the other hand, Young's bat actualy made contact so it needs to be a bigger suspension. Also, all victims are not created equal in baseball you get more for hitting an ump than you do for hitting an opposing player, and you'd get even more than this if you intentionaly hit a fan.

  21. Martinez 3.5 Delgado 3.5 Nady 2.5 Floyd .5
  22. Before the year started i said we'd see Pelfrey make his major league debut July 4th before a sellout crowd at Shea Stadium, I'm still hoping thats right. One of the great things about college guys (and the reason i prefer drafting them unless a high school guy is one of those "oh my god he's amazing" talents) is that they are usually pretty close to being ready.
