  1. yeah i knew that much, though if they were disseminating the same information as KCmets in the same style under that... which robert parker book did you have something under the same name published?
  2. I just had my first copyright class today, give me a few months...
  3. call it the "Brady Anderson Rule"
  4. I'm pretty liberal (i don't think i've ever said those words before) with giving 5 stars. my system is pretty much something like this:1- this movie horrible terrible piece of crap. to fall into this category a movie must either be a true story or documentary that is boooooring and or untrue or the movie must have neither a coherent plot, good laughs, or cool fight scenes.2- this movie bad. maybe some people will like it but i didn't. there were too many coincidences or a lack of belief in the plot (for movies that take themselves seriously) or it wasnt funny (for movies that don't)3- this movie was o.k. you should seek this movie when it happens to be on tv or if you have netflix and dont have to pay extra to see it. the movie doesnt stand out from hundreds of others you've seen but you don't regret the 3 hours and you walk away thinking "that was cool."4- this movie was good and you should have seen it in theaters, but go get it now if you didn't. you'll reccomend this movie to friends and watch it again every so often.5- this movie rocked. you are likely to add it to your DVD collection. you were either laughing from start to finish or engrossed with the characters/story.edit- and i just realized that this thread was months old. damn.
  5. I'd much rather have Glaus. he's two years younger and his OPS+ the last three years have all been in the 120's. Rolen on the other hand has been pretty bad 2 of the last 3 years, I think his star has fallen and he is unlikely to ever be the same player again, chronic back injuries are especially worrisome. Rolen is also more expensive.
  6. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I know what you're thinking: "At least it doesn't rhyme with 'shitty'." bingo
  7. when you're a business with a level playing field sure, but the Mets can keep outspending 25+ teams for the forseeable future, they don't have to be as protective of low cost unproven talent as others do, particularly when they can pickup top level proven talent at a position where that talent is hardest to come by.
  8. it is for the Mets with their own new network and a new $tadium on the way
  9. they're not cheap in $$ but they're far more plentiful in the FA market every year than top pitchers and the Mets have $$, they can't sign someone that isnt out there though
  10. the mets are giving up ALOT but i'd still be happy to get santana in here. this team can always buy outfielders who will outslug those guys.
  11. I can't wait for Congress to rip into Clemens. I bet they can't wait either, what better way to bring your approval ratings up without having to do anything meaningful?
  12. someone cut out Mario batting to use as this guy's avatar
  13. 24% for Raines is a disgrace. strip the other 76% of the writers of their ballots.
  14. ]i'm looking at it from my presupposed conclusion of clemens' guilt shhhh!! now they won't let you serve on the eventual Clemens Jury!
  15. From Espn.com's Lester MunsonL ]But the adjective is the most important here. The lawsuit is a "proactive" strike against McNamee. Clemens filed his case in Houston, his home court, where his lawyers have enjoyed extraordinary success. When McNamee gets around to filing his countersuit, he is stuck now. He must file it in Texas, the forum selected by Clemens and his lawyers. thats a good point but other ones should be made. It is almost a gaurantee that McNamee will successfully remove the case to federal court in Texas (from the state court where Clemens filed.) From there, McNamee may succeed in moving the case to the federal court house in NYC. Texas is by no means the gauranteed forum right now.
  16. ]Clemens has officially filed a defamation suit against McNamee. This basically gives Clemens another excuse not to answer questions before Congress ("I can't answer that question due to pending litigation") rather than pleading the 5th before Congress. he can give whatever reason he wants for not talking to Congress if he's simply asked to speak, if he's actually subpoenad though i would assume that works that same way as a witness in court- "pending civil litigation" isn't an excuse. As far as why he instituted this suit in the first place? i doubt he'll win but he looks more innocent when he claims his eagerness to resolve this in court and likely wants the opportunity to air McNamee's dirty laundry (from what i've read he has a long rap sheet)
  17. HahnSolo wrote: I must have missed it in the movie, but they isolated Manhattan island so as not to let the virus escape? So did they explain how the virus left the island, or did it already do so? [Potential spoiler below] And if all the bridges and tunnels into Manhattan were destroyed, how did the lady and her son drive up from Maryland? the virus escaping seemed plausible enough, its the woman getting into manhattan, with her car, that made me go "huh?"
  18. fine, then he can get a subpoena to "talk about the past" and lawyer-up like McGwire did. That'll shoot all his denials down.
  19. ]Raines stole over 800 bases, so his "reluctance to run" is a perception based on idiocy. He was certainly a more descriminating runner than those who just wanted to accumulate SBs. But to say he didn't run just because he wanted to preserve his SB% stats is nuts; Rock understood that unless you're stealing at a very high rate of success, you're actually hurting not helping the offense. exactly. players SHOULD be concerned with their percentage. Raines belongs in the HOF.
  20. what a waste of the sacred seaver post on mel gibson
  21. i liked the batman preview. best part of the movie by far.
  22. as a movie i think this was even worse than wild wild west, though his performance was better in this one.
  23. Will Smith ruins his rep in this horendous horror film.
  24. ]It's hard to argue with what Klapisch is writing there. I agree with him about the Milledge trade. I agree that if Lastings' value was that low, we would have been better off keeping him. No. If the Mets had not traded Milledge, Klapisch would be writing about how he's been a bust here and they should trade him and get something right now.
  25. Mark Prior to the Padres.
