  1. Just joining this thread now. I've been watching on delay and just got caught up. Nice to be able to go six innings without having to see any commercials. And the eight runs are nice too!
  2. With six voters so far, all three polls are unanimous: Tigers, Orioles, Padres. I imagine a Mets/Brewers poll would be similarly unanimous.
  3. I could go either way on this one, but if the Mets make it to the World Series, I'd rather see a different opponent than last time, so I voted Baltimore. (And a 1969 rematch would be nice.)
  4. I don't expect the Braves to get many votes here.
  5. This one is easy. Not much reason to root for the Astros.
  6. Who would you like to see win?

  9. I just hope we see a lot of armpit waves, from whomever.
  10. =Centerfield post_id=173141 time=1727810430 user_id=65] Hey, anyone else not getting nervous?

I think the Mets got stung on that in the 2006 NLCS, if I remember right.) If you make a mid-series replacement for injury, the replaced player can't come back in the next series either. I don't remember the rule from 2006. The Mets did not replace Floyd during the LCS of course. Was there talking of doing so? I guess they could've added Rickey Ledee or Lastings Milledge in his place. I think it may have involved Orlando Hernandez? I think he came up injured after the rosters were set.

  13. I understand why the Brewers are favored, but as we all know, anything can happen between the foul lines, and that's what we're all hoping for this week. It was a fun season, all in all. May the fun continue deep into October, as it did in 2015.
  14. =Centerfield post_id=173094 time=1727801306 user_id=65] Can you option Kranick after game 1?
  15. No Mets have ever appeared in three postseasons for the club. That won't change this year, but hopefully it will next year. There are many players who have appeared in two postseasons: the 1969-1973 guys, the 1986-1988 guys, the 1999-2000 guys, and the 2015-2016 guys. Plus three players who don't fit any of those groups: David Wright (2006 and 2015), Jose Reyes (2006 and 2016) and Jacob deGrom (2015 and 2022). This year, there will be between five and nine players appearing in their second postseason as Mets. (The ninth one would potentially be Jeff McNeil, if the Mets last long enough.) The Brewers will be a new postseason opponent for the Mets, their 15th. The first 14 are, in order, the Braves, Orioles, Reds, Athletics, Astros, Red Sox, Dodgers, Diamondbacks, Giants, Cardinals, Yankees, Cubs, Royals, and Padres. If the Mets advance, the Phillies with be their 16th opponent. Going into tonight's series, the Mets have played 92 postseason games, with an overall record of 52 and 40, .565. In the Wild Card Series, the Mets have a record of 1 win and 3 losses (.250). In the Division Series, the Mets have a record of 12 wins and 4 losses (.750). In the League Championship Series, the Mets have a record of 26 wins and 17 losses (.605). In the World Series, the Mets have a record of 13 wins and 16 losses (.448). 16. http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/images/warning.gif> http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/Cast your votes now! Voting for all remaining regular-season games will close on Tuesday, October 8. If there are any games that you haven't yet voted for, and intend to, please try to do so over the next week. Reminder... There is no Schaefer voting for postseason games. This will close out the twentieth year of Schaefer voting and our winners will be announced.
  17. Do we know when the roster will be officially announced? If I recall correctly from previous postseasons, it may be as late as about an hour before game time.
  18. =Centerfield post_id=173053 time=1727792239 user_id=65] Milwaukee is a division champion. Finished 4 games ahead of the Mets. Beat them 5 of 6 times this season. Has a much, much better bullpen.
  19. Thank you, but as I've said many times, I have this so automated that it takes probably less than 15 minutes per month. It feels like stolen valor when someone thanks me for my time and effort. But it's appreciated nonetheless.

  22. Today I learned the hard way that Frank Viola wasn't a first-round draft pick.
  23. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Are the Diamondbacks the first team to miss the postseason because of a tiebreaker? Bobby Thomson's "The Giants win the pennant" HR to eliminate Brooklyn was in a tiebreaker. (The Shot Heard 'Round the World). That's not what I meant. The Giants officially finished the season with a better record than the Dodgers that year
