  1. I don't get it. Is this the only change for 2010? Going from bright white to almost bright white?
  2. He wasn't around nearly long enough.
  3. Johnson, Matlack, Piazza, Valentine.
  4. Cashen, Johnson, Lang.
  5. This one too. I'm seeing radio buttons instead of check boxes.
  6. Oops -- this thread only allows one selection.
  7. Darling, Franco, Gooden, McCarver.
  8. Alfonzo, Jarvis, Strawberry, Walker.
  9. Question: Will any Mets get MVP votes? And if so, who will get the most, and how many points will he get? My guess: Johan Santana will get a total of 3 points.
  10. Me too.
  11. Does his name rhyme with Feet Hose?
  12. That I don't agree with. I can't see the day that the day they induct Don Hahn and Pete Falcone into the Mets HOF as a great day.
  13. I like that idea. I have one of my own, unrelated to G-Fafif's, but regarding the Mets HOF. The Mets should do something to bring the HOF out into the ballpark, in addition to the museum that will be inside the building. I was thinking that they could add a display screen somewhere visible from the seats, that would, during the course of an entire game, display the name and photograph of a Mets Hall of Famer. I think this would, possibly, ease the outcry for retiring a lot of uniform numbers. So every time you go to Citi Field, there would be a featured Hall of Famer of the day. When you sit in your seat, you'd look and see that today it's Jerry Koosman. Or Mookie Wilson. Or Joan Payson. Sure, Mookie wouldn't be on the wall every day like 14 37 41 are, but they'd each get featured a bunch of times per season.
  14. Interesting (in a way) that Willie Mays didn't make any of these lists, yet the Mets have granted him the even higher honor of semi-retiring his uniform number. I think they should put 24 back in circulation immediately. Don't reserve it for the Rickey Hendersons; give it to the next Kelvin Torve who comes along.
  15. I have an abiding fondness for John Stearns, but I don't think he makes the HoF cut. I should add that I'd much rather see him as the Brooklyn manager, and potentially a future Flushing manager, than Wally Backman.
  16. These are the latest names coming out of the rumor mill as Mets targets. Sheets:
  17. And getting rid of the drop shadow and the orange button. And renaming Citi Field to Bob Murphy Stadium. And eradicating all traces of Jackie Robinson and the Brooklyn Dodgers from the rotunda. And changing the facade so that it no longer resembles Ebbets Field. And applying tar and feathers to Jeff Wilpon. And Luis Castillo! And retiring numbers 1, 7, 16, 17, 18, 31, 36 and 45. Did I miss anything?
  18. Thanks. I seldom hear the radio broadcasts anymore*, and if I ever knew Majkowski's name I've obviously forgotten it. *I have the Extra Innings package at home since 2006, and, somehow, I'm rarely in my car when the Mets are playing.
  19. Jane Jarvis for me, too. Her part in the creation of Meet the Mets, plus her many years of service as Shea's Queen of Melody clinches the deal. And of all the names in all these polls, there's only been one name that I didn't recognize: Chris Majkowski. I have no idea who that is.
  20. I voted for McCarver and Wilpon.
  21. Piazza, Franco, and Berra. (Is this the Italian-American ballot?) Olerud was wonderful, but he wasn't here long enough.
  22. I know. But I'm not going to vote for anyone who doesn't belong.
  23. Just Davey.
