Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Not quite sure why we're going with 'Gselling the Drama' again in a game where there'll be no Gsellman in the drama - or even on the 25-man roster for that matter.NIMMO - RFLAGARES - CFCABRERA - 2BFLORES - 3BSMITH - 1Bd'ARNAUD - CROSARIO - SSREYNOLDS - LFMILONE - PI'd prefer to see Wilmer at 2nd and Cabrera at 3rdKENDRICK - 2BDIFO - SSRENDON - 3BZIMMERMAN - 1BWIETERS - CTAYLOR - CFDE AZA - LFBAUTISTA - RFFEDDE - PErick Fedde (rhymes with Freddie) -- RHP, 6' 4" / 180 -- was the Nats 1st round pick (18th overall) in 2014 out of UNLV despite them knowing in advance that he needed TJ surgery. But the Nats haven't been shy about drafting pre-injured players in recent years so his pro start was delayed until 2015 with only 64 IP and then another 121 in 2016This season, in addition to a bunch of relief outings, he's made 7 AA starts, 6 AAA starts, and 2 ML starts [one in June, one back on August 6th -- 9.1 IP, 11 RA on 18 hits + 6 BBs]

Brilliant!Autofill is a killer. Just now I tried to edit it with my thumbs from the passenger seat and I instead deleted the post.Anyhow, I wonder when was the last time in MLB history that one Wilmer has grounded out to another.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Robles just pitched 3 innings the other day. Is Terry trying to stretch him out to be a starter?Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Nimmo has a tendency to be patient to a fault. Not suggesting he should actively seek to change his approach especially since his ML ABs have been few and far between, but I wouldn't mind seeing him get gradually more aggressive over these final six weeks as he's pretty much going to be in the lineup every day.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Cuz after all, he's my SeawaldWhen Manfred turns his attention to game pace this winter (with or without the player side input) these mid-inning pitching changes should be the first target.I know that the relievers chapter of the union still insists that the bullpen mounds aren't the same as the field mound and therefore they need their additional eight warmups but, y'know what, thenmake those bullpen mounds up to par so it's not a two minute break each time there's a pitching switch. And the other argument is about lost commercial time but, unlike the between innings breaks, these stoppages aren't pre-known and contracted for. Besides, it'll still take the better part of a minute to make the swap and I'm sure the telecasts can get creative with ads during the change. That bottom 6th just had an additional four minutes of dead time over and above the already built-in dead time because Terry used three pitchers.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 We're going to lose this one and blow out every arm in the bullpen with a 2nd game to play still.Zimmo, you disappoint me.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 I always thought that you had to at least make believe you were trying to get out the way of a pitch before it hit you.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Curious what our plan for the ninth is.I think Nimmo is currently on the productive-every-other-game plan.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 (edited) That was a designed play ya know. Edited August 27, 2017 by Guest
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Unorthodox way to win, but I'll take it!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Over-running the ball and getting the out at the plate is starting to look like a very Mets-y play. It's called "The Tebow." It's the new Tebow.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 If that was overturned the Mets should have taken it all the way to the World Court in The Hague.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 The one thing I remember about Taijeron from Spring Training Games was that he was a truly incompetent outfielder. What a stupid finish!
