A team on the chopping block attempts to show some ... something ... in defending their own turf.

The Red Sox supposedly had been scouting New York infielders this series, and I would guess T.J. Rivera failed his audition yesterday, so it's Wilmer's turn. But apart from returning Flores to the lineup, Terry is all same-old/same old.

Go, Jake!

Just said hi to Mike Breen and he's like do I know you! Hurt a little.

What are these 2-out/run-scoring hits of which you speak?

Modern baseball oddity: Not only did that first AB by Carpenter take 13 pitches but, because each of the strikes (including, I believe, the first two) was a foul ball and the only 2 balls during the AB
were both in the dirt, I'm pretty sure that that AB used 13 different baseballs. That's gotta be a record!
I'm sure there were early 20th century games where they used fewer than 13 balls in the entire game.

deGrom makes two outs in the second inning.

The four runs that intervened were sublime.

Two more 'hits' (in front of Cespedes, to the left of Flores) that are probably outs I'd guess 75% of the time ... but not on this team, this year.

As noted earlier, the Sox are reportedly in the house scouting infielders.

Also, Keith has a leather thing.

Keith references Jackson Browne's "These Days."

Cool fact: Jackson wrote that song (his best, to a lot of folks' thinking) at 15, and sold it to Nico.

He was a born existentialist.
