Cespedes suggesting that he'd like to end his big league career where it began is setting off a social media shit storm.

I'm not particularly concerned about that sort of thing. It was dumb, but he was clearly talking about some distant abstract future.

I guess it makes the list of shitpiles the Mets have stepped in this year, but pretty low.

Which is the stupidest controversy I've ever seen. He makes an offhanded comment about liking to play in Oakland before he retires and everyone wrings their hands about how much he must hate being a Met. Hell, this is a guy who signed with them twice when he could have gone anywhere else.

I agree, especially since its not an uncommon sentiment among athletes.

If an ex-Met had said the same thing (Strawberry might be an apt comparison especially since he still thinks of himself as bleeding orange and blue), the tenor would be more "how can we facilitate his return/underscores how dumb it was that he's no longer here" instead of "way to backstab your current organization, teammates, manager and fanbase!"

I want to say New Jersey?

Yeah, his LinkedIn profile has him in XxXXXXXXX, if anybody wants to pay him a creepy visit on the way to the beach.

I don't think it's proper to post his township in this thread - it's an invasion of his privacy.

I REALLY can't believe this is actually a matter of note, much less one of concern.

We're in an era where the most sensational early "connect the dots" theories can become "well worn and shared facts" on social media/networks.

And I'm just talking about reasons for Harvey's suspension, which included obvious MSG photos as "photographic proof that he was in Ottawa" for the Ranger game!

Not too mention a fanbase still hurting over defections that seemed short sighted (Murphy, Turner and even Colon based on his popularity).

Not too hard to believe the knee jerk reaction to a FA that commanded big money, twice, would cause a reaction by expressing fondness for hos original franchise and skipper.

The dildo photo.

That it took this long to mention the dildo says A LOT about this season.
