Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 We're getting our asses kicked out there
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Two runs (so far) in this inning and Texas hasn't hit a ball hard yet.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Poor Irish, reduced to arguing with himself.I'll say this for Texas: Their seats are filled.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Great, we're first-pitch swinging. Come on.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Yeah they're all Terry-ble
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Well, Kimbrel just K'd Judge on 3 pitches to preserve a 5-4 Boston win ... so the night isn't a total loss.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 OK, first two on in the eighth. Let's see what we can do with this 'un.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Somehow, amazingly, I have not gone to bed yet, and now it's bases loaded with no out. Mets are one swing from making this a 10-8 game.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Work the count, man. The count is your friend.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Three shots to get a hit w/RiSP ... oh for two so far and nothing out of the infield.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 12 LOB; 2-13 w/RiSP and only one of them scored a run.Meanwhile, six of the ten Rangers runs came on non-hits.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Now bases loaded w/no outs the other way ... but I'm betting their side doesn't follow with three weak rollers.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Well, Edgin did his job, at least.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Well, well.Still a bloop and blast away.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Thinking hard about lost opportunities right now. Let's not lose this one.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Odd time to steal a base ... but it worked.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 There's certainly value in erasing the double play possibility, but man, if you're going to steal, you've GOT to make it.The risk-reward ratio is really high. But it helped set up this walk by Conforto.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Don't like those high curves getting call'd for strikes.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 That was the only way for that game to end.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Almost as depressing as deGrom and the way this game ended is the fact that the Ranger park is out in the Dallas burbs, Citi is in the middle of Queens, and the two stadium "neighborhoods" look virtually the same outside. #thanksalotbroll
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 You would think that turning a 17-hit (including 5 HRs) 6-walk game with your supposed ace going into a loss would be near impossible.Instead it was largely a blowout.I mean some of these situations seem to defy mathematics:1st inning: Leadoff double = 1 run2nd: Leadoff walk plus a HR = 1 run3rd: 2 HRs, 2 singles and a walk = 2 runs4th: walk + single = 0 runs5th: 2 singles = 0 runs6th: 1 single = 0 runs7th: the lone 1-2-3 inning of the night for Ranger pitching8th: 2 singles and a walk = 1 run9th: 2 HRs, 2 singles, plus a walk = 3 runsDillon Gee faced 21 batters, retiring just nine of them including giving up three (could have been four) HRs, and yet somehow escaped with only 4 runs against him.And the biggest problem is that the lack of clutch hitting isn't the biggest problem. The starter who we think is the most dependable (or at least did) and was handed a lead before he threw a pitch, wound up with an ERA for the game of 18.00 and a WHIP of 2.75, all of which made the bullpen's combined 2 runs and 8 baserunners over 4 innings (4.50 / 2.00) look good in comparison even though those runs end up as the final difference in the score.
