No sense in getting in over our heads so early in our first non-EDT road trip - so this would be a nice game to win.

7:00 start -- Robert Gsellman [2-2; 6.54] vs Zach Davies [3-2; 5.60]

Davies is that 150 lb / 16 y/o-looking (he's actually 24) right-hander who shut us down on 3 hits over 6 innings in a game last year even though he looks like the ball boys can all beat him up.
In general, both pitchers are getting their share of beatings from NL hitters so far this year.

Despite a bunch of higher-profile problems to our staff this season (Harvey, Syndergaard, Matz, and now Familia) Gsellman has been as big a disappointment as any of them.
In his six starts he's essentially had one decent one with the other five being just slight variations of suck. Giving up 3 or more runs in every start so far (emphasis on the 'or more' part) and going
past five innings only once is a good formula for winding up with a 6.54 ERA and WHIP of 1.64 (last year = 2.42, 1.28)

Gsellman also cost us 2 weeks of Duda with a terrible fielding play. He's on my list but also, I have more CAHNfidence he'd improve than I do of Hovvey right now.

I'll never understand what Star Wars has to do with baseball, but it is Star Wars night at Miller Park.

They did it when the Mets were in town last year, too.

Looks like Wilmer's defense has him in the house of dogs.

Darth Vader is on the field, both teams are wearing pink unis and Chris Christie is sitting about 20 rows behind me.

It's going to be a strange night.

I see a "Night at the Airstrip -- Milwaukee" story coming our way!

Star Wars makes money and baseball teams like money.

I see that Davies is one of those guys who thinks that arm tats will make his baby-faced, skinny body look older and tougher.
He's wrong of course, it just makes him look even sillier.

oe: and btw, the lame attempt at facial hair isn't helping either.

Not entirely his fault in that 2nd inning, but Gsellman continues the trend of give-back innings and of early high pitch-counts.

All this pink is confusing me as to who is at bat and who is on defense.

The Milwaukee catcher looks like a powder puff.

I don't know. But I'm thinking it might be a good idea to hide some dildoes in Granderson's locker, too.

Davies has thrown over six innings worth of pitches in just four innings, so we'll be in the Milwaukee bullpen sooner than later.
Whether that's a good thing or not I have no idea.

Everyone thinks it's way too much in all the sports
but there's no turning back now.

Gsellman against hitters leading off an inning this season: .433/.514/.900 in 35 PA -- 13 for 30 including 3 2Bs, 1 3B, and 3 HRs, plus 2 BBs and [u:2eb4m2vc]3 HBP[/u:2eb4m2vc]

1 single in four ABs so far tonight, but that is NOT a recipe for success.

Heck of a catch by Conforto.

I like the pink uniforms.

Doesn't the NFL do like an entire month of pink accessories?
Of course they do it while pretty much ignoring violence against women, but concentrating on that doesn't move product.

I don't like/hate the pink, I just see through the whole thing.

Really? I love the vintage Mets road greys!

I peaked in on the Cubs/Cards this afternoon and couldn't always tell the difference between those squads right away, and the Cards in particular are usually one of the most recognizable unis in the circuit.
But the pink-fest obscured all the difference between StL red and Cubby blue.
