Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 1) the Phils came back against the Nats pen with 3 in the 8th to tie (off Grace and Albers) and another in the 10th to win (off Treinen)It kills the Nats' 4-game winning streak and leaves us no further back than where we started the weekend2) the Cubs scored three times off Chapman and the Yanx pen to tie it up with 2 outs in the 9thOf course they still need to NOT blow this in extras (Zobrist grounded out w/bases loaded with a chance to win it in regulation) or they'll get swept at home and officially suck bhmc. They were the ones blowing it late on Friday and then got blown out on Saturday
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2017 Author Posted May 8, 2017 Yanx finally won it, 18 innings and six hours later.By the time all the double-switching and so on was done, the Cubs wound up with no position players left and the pitcher's slot batting behind Rizzo. So the Yanx just simply kept IW'ing Rizzo -- in the 14th, the 16th and finally the 18th -- even when it meant putting the tying run on with two outs and none on, or in the 18th after Bryant walked and it pushed the tying run to 2nd with two outs. In eachcase the pitcher (sometimes a pitcher PH'ing for another pitcher) K'd to end the inning or game. The game featured a record 48 combined strike outs.Fuck you, Cubs!Maybe a few less commercials and a bit more hitting and you wouldn't get swept to fall to just a game over .500
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 The 18 inning game gave the announcers wayyyyyy too much time to tell us about next week's game, when a lousy fielding shortstop will have his uniform retired. One of the guys in the booth (I didn't watch too long because my gag reflex was beginning to kick in) was waxing idyllic about playing with that person. I believe he was having difficulty keeping both hands on the stat sheet. I turned it off at that point.Later
