Pirates OF Starling Marte received a half-season suspension for testing positive for some (un-named) PED. The 28 y/o OF, signed to Pitt thru the 2019 season with team options thru 2021, had taken over in CF this year as the Bucs moved Andrew McCutcheon to Right.
Suspension starts immediately and will make him ineligible for the post-season should Pittsburgh qualify.

The Pirates are off to a 6-7 start this year and were already short one of their players from 2016 as Korean native Jung-Ho Kang remains on the 'Restricted List' after failing to get a visa clearance to re-enter the country following multiple DWI arrests.
He has a hearing scheduled in Korea next month.

This is very sad. The Pirates were really promoting him as a family man. I was to two or three games last year and the kids (and Moms) adored him.

Dang, I had him in my keepy-but-no-cheaty league. Now there's a drawing
tomorrow for one of my other top-five players as penalty for cheating.

80 games does seem like an odd number. I think some of the stuffing might have came out of the Pirates, sad to say.

I wonder if anyone has an extra outfielder they want to move...hmm...

I'm not advocating, but there's a team not only with an extra outfielder, but a veteran secondbaseman with Pittsburgh pedigree, as well.

Should be 81, the extra game was probably a CBA concession.
