Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 It's sort of a makey/breaky year for me. The second year back from Tommy John. It's either "My arm is fully reliable and newly resilient!" or "My arm will never be my ticket to wealth, romance, and celebrity again!"Which is it for me? I'm out of options and stuff. See, I'm nominally the team's second lefty out of the pen right now, but I got ghostbusted my first time out, giving up two runs in an inning in a game when all my fellow pitchers no-hit Boston, the mightiest offensive machine in the American League. That sucked. Of course, it's early, and Tom Gorzellany got hit twice as hard as I did. So I haven't lost my seat on the bus north yet.YET. But what lies ahead? Rolaids Relief glory? Schaefer schelebrity? Winning that Heath Bell thigh-alike thingy? Only the wisest know.[fimg=339:16hlzb0c]http://www3.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Philadelphia+Phillies+v+New+York+Mets+Xh_MS2OAa0Ul.jpg[/fimg:16hlzb0c] [fimg=361:16hlzb0c]http://media.nj.com/mets_main/photo/11393194-large.jpg[/fimg:16hlzb0c][fimg=298:16hlzb0c]http://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Josh+Edgin+Colorado+Rockies+v+New+York+Mets+zuA9_69lQlrl.jpg[/fimg:16hlzb0c] [fimg=402:16hlzb0c]http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.2135777.1425406656!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_1200/2015-mets-spring-training-portraits-josh-edgin.jpg[/fimg:16hlzb0c]
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 I could see this guy get his walking papers and re-invited back on a minor legue deal, pitch okay for Vegas, and make a coupe of cameos when Smokeshow goes down with a blister.8 games, 9.2 IP, 4.59 ERA
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Minor league meal money will help him reduce that butt.10 non-crucial appearances in the majors (after 45-50 games at AAA), with a 4.60 ERA.Options, smoptions. If he gets claimed on waivers, no biggie.Later
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 They'll be able to sneak him through waivers at the end of the spring and send him to Vegas. So on the makey-breaky scale, it's mostly breaky for Josh.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 1, 2017 Author Posted March 1, 2017 All you guys predicting Smoker breaks camp as the the second lefty?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Can't speak for everyone, but I do.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 2, 2017 Author Posted March 2, 2017 Gorzelanny and Roseboom continuing to fall out of the picture today. And Gilmartin yesterday.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Meh. Edgin could be fine, the control returning. But he'll probably be shuttled a few times and ultimately unused, traded, or released. 8 IP, 3.5 ERA, 10 k/9, 2.5 bb/9.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 I agree on the round-trip Vegas shuttle and then him ultimately done ortrying again in someone else's system.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 7, 2017 Author Posted March 7, 2017 If he's truly out of options, which I understand him to be, it'll be tough to ride the shuttle, as he'll have to clear waivers every time he goes down, including on April 1, if he doesn't make the club out of camp. That certainly can happen, but lefthanded relievers probably tend to get grabbed more than your typical waiver bait. I think it's stick-or-disappear time.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Well, as typed I sorta half-assed hedged I suppose. Hedgin on Edgin 2017!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 29, 2017 Author Posted November 29, 2017 ceetar looks to have had the clearest crystal ball on Edgin.Enjoy Norfolk, Joshie.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 I nailed the ERA but that feels like luck. ultimately he was used like 4x as much as I thought he would've been especially considering his control numbers were garbage. 4.38 BB/9! That's bad!
