I Can't Stop Conflating

If I hired John Lackey to entertain at a children's birthday party, and Jon Lester showed up instead, I would be none the wiser.

If I visited a bar, and spent the evening drinking with Aaron Nola, I'd totally be logging on and telling you folks about my night with Ivan Nova.

I conflate.

Nope. One's definitely a Phillie and one's definitely an MFY.

But turn-of-the-millennium-outfielder-first-base-pinch-hitter-Royal-Mariner-types Mike Sweeney and Mark Sweeney? Might as well be the same dude.

Remember that Seinfeld episode where they bet who could go the
longest without conflating. Mtaster of their domains or something.
I agreed it was unfair to let Elaine play, but she conflated. Who can
go the longest here without conflation? Not me, certainly not Edgy!

My increasingly creaky cranium gets my Ryans-- Goins, Raburn, John Ryan Murphy, Brandon Ryan-- mixed up like they were meds spilled from my pill organizer. It's not so much one Ryan for the other as it is a murky, murky Ryan soup.

All those midseason Card outfielder callups-turned-temp-stars, too. Your Piscottis, Grichuks, Allen Craigs and such. Hell, I can only picture Jon Jay's actual face SINCE he left St. Loo.

When we called up Jack Egbert a few seasons ago (2013? 14?) I was 100% confident he was the guy I remembered from my 1989 Donruss set who never actually pitched for the Mets and was fascinated that he was still pitching 25 years later.
