batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Do strikeouts in one season by a Mets pitching staff; by Mets starters. I'm guessing a record setting pace -- perhaps a MLB record setting pace, or in the running.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 21, 2016 Author Posted May 21, 2016 Thank you for asking. The Mets are indeed on a record pace. batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I think I read somewhere that no group of starters ever struck out more than 1,000 batters in a season, or something like that. But these Mets just might be the staff to do it.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 In today's baseball I suspect most team's pitching staffs (and most of the lineups for that matter) are setting new strikeout records almost every year.

I didn't realize that Franco had that big of a lead, or that Benitez had more saves than Orosco. At the rate Familia is going, he could pass those guys in a week -- or just over a week.
