So, yeah, I had this great KTE lined up, and, like, was in the middle of final, FINAL edits, and this gust of wind blew a dog in through my unlocked living room door, and he ate the damn thing. Or I had a week full of overtime-laden evenings and single-parenting mornings, and just couldn't get the thing thinged.

He's probably better than that and was #2 behind Kris Bryant for The Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Award last year.

Built less like a third baseman and more like one of them long, limber, goofy starting pitchers San Francisco is so good at producing.

It seems like they have a good lineup and their only problem has been the butt-end of the rotation and bullpen.

Team Overview: 12-11, which is good enough for tied for 1st place in the NL West although that's thanks mostly to the Dodgers getting swept this week by the Marlins.
And even that averageness is a bit misleading as the SF'ers started out 7-2, then lost 8 of their next 9 (all division games), and now are riding a 5-1 streak.

We're getting a bit of a break in the pitching department. Samardzija & Cueto have been their best starters and we'll miss them both.
-- Friday's starter Peavy is coming off a good game (7 IP, 2 R vs Miami) but it's his only one in 4 starts so far this season. Seems like Peavy should be about 50 by now by he's actually not quite 35.
-- Saturday brings us Matt Cain who's just plain been terrible: 0-2 in 4 starts w/a 6.35 ERA and 1.67 WHiP. Cain never seemed to recover from being injured during his peak seasons and has now won just 12 games over the years 2013-16
-- Sunday we get Bumgarner who's been good but not Bumgarner-good: 3.64 / 1.38

Also they're missing some key bullpen guys. Set-up man Sergio Romo is DL'd, as is starter/reliever Chris Heston (yeah, the guy who no-hit us last year, remember?) leaving them with closer Santiago Casilla and a bunch a names I barely know.

Buster Posey had dinner at American Cut last night. Although he was a rookie phenom just last week, he turned 29 in March and is now starting his seventh season. Bruce Bochy is already talking about limiting his time at catcher. He's off to a not awful but un-Poseylike .264/.325/.417 start.

Hailing from Dutchess County and not, as his name might imply, from the mid-1970s Lower East Side, Joe Panik continues to man second base for the squad after recovering from last year's lower-back stress fracture, presumably resulting from carrying the weight of Hopewell Junction's collective hopes and dreams, or the stress of worrying over whether Chris Mullin would have a solid first season coaching his alma mater's cagers. Including last night, he's reached base in fifteen straight, which is something he does with some frequency (career .361 OBP). He doesn't swing and miss very often, which serves him well when brawling with Suicide fans after the site at CB's.

Apparently, his groin's a little sore after last night's figurative kick in the balls. If he can't go today or tomorrow, he'll be spelled by Kelby Tomlinson , who's probably not as good as last year's slash line (.303/.358/.404), but is in line for Tri-Delt social chair this semester, and thinks you look totally fetch in that maxi, Heather.
