Soothsaying for Sixteen: Hansel Robles

What with the quick pitching and the brush-backing, I look to be the enfant terrible of the Mets bullpen. Some would read that sentence with wariness, but I just read the part that says, "I look to be ... of the Mets bullpen.

And that I do. Already I'm join gin big Jim Henderson and Antonio Bastardo and Addy Reed among the high-leverage options. Know why? Because I'm good. I'm the first of the great 2012 Brooklyn Cyclones rotation to become a rock in the Mets pitching staff. Hate me for whatever reasons you want, but you're going to be owning your love for me soon enough.

I'm Hansel Robles, and I plan on getting a lot of love this season. By August, you'll scarcely remember a time when I wasn't in your bullpen. But those are my thoughts. What do you think will happen?

I agree. He's going to be one of those bastards the other team hates.

59 games, 63 innings, 60 whiffs, 15 walks, 2 saves, 3.01 ERA, a few dramatic homers allowed but that's what you get from Hansel.

Emerges as a read candidate to take over the setup role (and maybe even the closer role in the future should something bad happen).
3.18 ERA, 1.20WHIP, 10.2 K/IP, 3.2 BB/IP and at least four batters with soiled undergarments in 52 games.

He battles sporadic wildness to become one of our most reliable arms in the pen. No more than 4th in line for saves at this point, but if Familia gets hurt, and Reed and Bastardo prove inconsistent and worrisome, he could end up with some saves. He has closer stuff.
