Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Yeah, the system may congested with shortops, but they just cut one loose, and I'm not far behind, with the road in front of me now blocked only by the injured Cabrera. And Flores. And Reynolds. And maybe Muno. And possibly a non-roster player or two.Baseball is tough. But I may be tougher. I'm Gavin Cecchini and I've gone from an all-field/no-hit prospect to a hits-pretty-good-if-he-can-hack-it-in-the-field guy. And you know what? Both those reports are WRONG. I'm going to break through this year. Wadda you think?[fimg=500:msjxnpgq]https://metsmlb.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/gavin-cecchini-photo-day-1.jpg[/fimg:msjxnpgq]
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 He is going to prove he belongs in the mix for a future full time job by positively raking at AAA. Then he'll be called up in September to play fairly regularly once the Mets have clinched the home field advantage in the playoffs (around Sept 12th). With Walker having one year left on his contract, and the uncertainty of Wright's health long term, lots of options will be explored. And Gavin's performance with be examined carefully. Once brought up he will continue to mash .285/ .365/ .425 and play shortstop better than many of the in-house candidates. Later
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Begins in AAA, does goodish, gets some time when Cabrera's knee troubles him. Hits 250/300/360 over 30 games. Looks okay in the field.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Not as good as Tejada would have been.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Better than so-so in Vegas, traded in July.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 24, 2016 Author Posted March 24, 2016 That's a bold predicty. I figured Mr. Alderson has him penciled in as part of the puzzle longer-term.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Part of a BIG trade in July, ya can't keep everyone!
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Eventual Rule 5 guy.I would be happy to be wrong.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 24, 2016 Author Posted March 24, 2016 Well, he's already on the roster, so if he gets away, it's certainly unlikely to be as a Rule V draftee.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Years from now when he doesn't hit.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 20-25 PAs, 1 HR, no embarrassment in the field
