Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 With Cuddy's roster spot open, the Mets suddenly have Eric Campbell back in play. Raburn does everything Campbell does (plays corner outfield, plays first, handles second, employs himself at third, hits lefties hard, wears a scruffy white guy beard), but had an excellent 2015 (after a bad 2014), while Campbell was pretty bad most of last season.Raburn played almost not at all against right-handers last year, and made $2.5 million. He hasn't been a regular since 2011. But a career .264 / .339 / .487 // .827 split against lefties with a .325 / .415 / .589 // 1.004 in 2015 might be worth a small old-guy-role-player offer for him to join Nieuwenhuis or whoever among the outfield reserves, his lousy 2014 aside.[fimg=300:3bco91ol]http://media.cleveland.com/pluto/photo/0610terryjpg-4977a79cc6405033.jpg[/fimg:3bco91ol]

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 We should do that Steve Phillips trick where we offer Rayburn and Byrd and ideally a third FA lefty-masher multiposition player identical deals at the same time and say "first to respond gets the job."
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 We do need a lefty masher who plays first base, too (if not primarily), don't we? STEVE PEARCE OR GTFO, FO.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Weird alternate-year progressions for Raburn2012 OPS = 480 over 222 PA2013 OPS = 901 over 2772014 OPS = 547 over 2122015 OPS = 936 over 201That's not just erratic, it's freakin' absurd!!Pearce, meanwhile, is in the opposite camp where he's coming off a bad season on the heels of a good one2014 = 9302015 = 711Pearce is two years younger: 33 in April as opposed to Rayburn who turns 35 the same week.
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Pearce also had better numbers vs. righties than against lefties last year.
