A thread proposed by cooby.

You try to put your best spin on it, but the initial shock is raw. In a week or so, your new normal will have settled in, but right now, you've been sent packing, perhaps by the only organization you've ever known, and the sting is fresh. But there's a mic in your face. Try and say something civilized, you bitter ex-Met.

"I love playing in XXXXXX," said XXXXXX. "I got my first hit in XXXXXX, actually my first home run. I could see the passion from the fans. It's probably one of my favorite places to play, just to see the excitement from the fans and throughout the game. It was a fun place to go and play games. I'm excited to be part of the team now."

Mostly generic stuff. Name that ex-Met. And share your quotes from other recently relocated ex-Mets.

if you want to go from sublime to the ridiculous, this one springs to mind:

"I will show him in the XXXXXX XXXXX when I strike out Ike Davis, and when I jump up and down on the mound [pointing to the sky] Ill be like, Hey thats for you.'

Thanks for giving that thread a chance. Mine is

"I love playing in Washington," said den Dekker. "I got my first hit in Washington, actually my first home run. I could see the passion from the fans. It's probably one of my favorite places to play, just to see the excitement from the fans and throughout the game. It was a fun place to go and play games. I'm excited to be part of the team now."

I'm going with... Mike O'Connor for the second.

If it's my turn, here goes:

"It's like living with a family all year and getting kicked out on Christmas Eve."

This newly minted ex-Met was talking about his 4 1/2-year-old son:

"

He was crushed," XXXXXXX said. "He told me, 'you can be a/an xxxxx. I'm gonna be a Met.' And then he didn't come out of his room for almost an hour."

Correct! I just wrote 3,200 words on Ed Lynch for a SABR project. Did you know his son James is an outfielder for the Jays' Pioneer League team?

I didn't. Did you know that nobody has written a SABR bio for Ron F. Hunt?

Calling out for you. I also finished Terry Leach just now. What a career that guy had.

Eric Young Jr., talking about Eric Young Jr. Jr.

I have no idea.

Dunno. Turk Wendell?

I got one.

''The Mets are in a position where they've got XXXXXX XXXXXX and XXXXXX XXXXXXX, and guys they paid money to get. I figured I'd be the one to go.''

He... conceded that he had ''voiced an opinion'' to his manager when taken out of some games.

''I thought they'd trade me because of that, too,'' he said. ''I was shocked it was to the XXXXX. I thought I'd go to the Tokyo Giants.''

It's sweet, until you see the filthy little turncoat decked out in Cincinnati red.
