Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Three teams with October hopes added outfielders just before the bell yesterday, all of them CLEARLY intimidated by the Mets' addition of Eric Young.Austin Jackson from the Mariners to the Cubs for a player to be named.Jonny Gomes from whatever's left of the Braves to the Royals for minor league infielder Luis Valenzuela.Alejandro De Aza (who went 0-7 with two walks against the Mets this weekend), from the Red Sox to the Giants for high A left-hander Luis Ysla, who doesn't seem shy about handing out the walks. De Aza earlier this season went from Baltimore to Boston. If the Giants bring him into the post-season, he could end up facing the Mets in three different uniforms in one season.I'm assuming all three could have been claimed by the Mets. Maybe not De Aza, as the Giants now have a worse record than the Mets, but perhaps didn't at the time of the waivers.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 The Royals hardly seem to be a team that needs help for September, and Gomes wouldn't be available to them in the postseason. Could this be an acquisition made with an eye toward 2016?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Royals have a chicken pox outbreak and Rios is sidelined for a while. They still care about getting best-overall record I think.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 1, 2015 Author Posted September 1, 2015 I believe all these deals were final before September 1, so all the principles are eligible for the post-season.
