Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 As it sits today, Noah Syndergaard isn't a very strong candidate for the big prize, although he's certainly maneuvering to get in on the money. It appears to be Kris Bryant and Matt Duffy's race. (Kris, meet Billy Hamilton.)The good news is that pitchers can make up ground pretty fast. (Noah, meet Jacob deGrom.) The bad news, such as it is, is that the team is threatening to curb Syndergaard's innings down the stretch.Good to see him leading among pitchers, but if he's going to make a move, he can start by leaving the Mr. Hyde-on-the-road act behind this evening.RkNameTeamfWARGPAHRRRBISBAVGOBPSLGOPSBsROffDefWLSVGGSIPK/9BB/9HR/9BABIPERAFIP1Kris BryantCubs3.910846716616612.252.360.443.8036.219.12.92Matt DuffyGiants3.81064201053595.305.342.466.8082.917.54.73Jung-ho KangPirates3.01003711045415.285.356.444.8002.914.71.54Randal GrichukCardinals2.9853121546444.284.333.561.8942.218.0-0.85Joc PedersonDodgers2.81164762357473.217.358.447.805-1.113.9-2.26=#0040FF]Noah SyndergaardMets2.47601717105.29.452.040.94.2893.073.107Taylor JungmannBrewers2.1740131380.28.142.90.22.2832.232.818Michael TaylorNationals1.910338010325015.242.285.375.660-0.3-10.116.19Jake LambDiamondbacks1.969257526293.271.327.424.7512.12.47.210Anthony DeSclafaniReds1.778023231386.783.20.85.2993.723.9511Chris HestonGiants1.711702424145.26.82.970.56.2863.343.6112Odubel HerreraPhillies1.71063776453213.288.320.424.7441.13.11.513Addison RussellCubs1.6100378740312.243.305.374.679-0.4-5.59.114Robbie RayDiamondbacks1.53801414827.792.740.66.2973.293.3115Ken GilesPhillies1.552753052.111.873.610.17.3461.721.9816Enrique HernandezDodgers1.561170622180.303.353.510.863-1.36.62.017Kyle SchwarberCubs1.535135931302.310.400.595.9950.912.2-2.818J.T. TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I don't think Noah will catch up in the overall race, but I hope he keeps up his pace (and for Jungmann to fall back a bit). It would be nice for the Mets to have the best rookie pitchers in the NL for two years running.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Does The Sporting News still give a Rookie Pitcher of the Year Award? And if they do, does anybody care?
