Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 I can give you my thoughts of both games that happened today right? It's all jumbled for me.Lucas Duda Growth Chart!Plus they're mailing Sophie her first game certificate. Sophie did admirably though. Her first baseball innings were 7-13 followed by 1-5. No sixth yet. They announced 'starting lineups' at the beginning of the game and did a first pitch and all that regular stuff. They even said 'leading off' without actually saying who would be batting first, you know, in the 7th. And then, of course, we stretched at the bottom of the first inning we'd all been there. And the weather! it was drizzly and coldish when we got there. let up a little and then got a little harder (we were mostly under cover in the Left Field Landing) then went away and got humid and muggy. Then the sun came out and it got hot. then we got a misting again, and then steady overcast. The early crowd was pretty bitter and quiet and only made much noise to boo the Mets when they failed to convert. But hey, at least they were getting guys on.Matz was fun. Worked out the jitters and really pitched nicely. I hate the bunt. I almost thought they were going to catch his double, but luckily they play in for pitchers.the Reds shortstop kinda sucks?Long day. fun though.Oh, and joy for me, the credit I have linked in MLB, despite being the same AMEX I always use, is actually a few "security breach" iterations back in account number and expiration date. So despite letting me buy tickets with it, the actual card I have doesn't match so I couldn't retrieve them. Had to go to a window and have someone actually look it up by name.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Both the Reds' middle infielders made dives and landed on their hands the last two days, both came up staring at their hands trying test the mobility of their thumbs, and both subsequently mishandled balls.Long live the Flores-to-second shift. It might have been a major story (if a dumb one), but by hiding the lineup change in Matz' debut, Terry turned it into a footnote at best. #genius

I don't think he was necessarily known as a good player there either. I've got so many questions though, and with an offday I'm sure we can get some of this as 'major' story stuff for Tuesday.1. Has he been working at second and the writers just missed it? I feel like a "Terry says he's not moving but I saw him at second!" tweet/story would've gotten talk.2. Is this doom for Herrera or Campbell? I think that's probably up for debate at this point, but I kinda suspect Collins thinks Herrera should get some more Vegas time. 3. Is this finally a vote of confidence for Tejada? He's had more than 500 major league games and has an above average OBP for an 85 wRC+ (100 this year) league average for SS this year is 81. He's valuable. Is this going to last or is it subject to any mini-slump Tejada goes into? Also, can we maybe put that solid OBP in the leadoff spot in front of those Granderson home runs?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 1. Terry tipped his hand earlier in the week with a statement that began "When we move Flores to second... ," so if there was a sighting of Flores working out over there, it wasn't much of a story any longer. He was expected to move when Murphy returned.2. One of those two is going down. I suspect it'll be Dilson, as he's (ironically, considering his fate) the more valued asset. Campbell's on-base performance today also may have saved his skin. But Murphy's return is not the last transaction. Campy is still in a prime position to feel the sting when the Mets activate Wright or trade for trade for Frazier or promote Reynolds or something.3. Sure it's a vote of confidence, but I doubt his leash is as long as most others'. On the other hand, the alternatives are few right now, apart from the one you're moving away from. It certainly could be setting up for a trade for a shortstop.
