Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 Throwing out the first pitch last month, and still looking pretty sturdy.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 My favorite early Met player. Some of his pitching performances against the greats of the time (it seemed like he was always in a 1-0 game against an All-Star pitcher) were classic. No matter how tough, he always fought bravely. Do the same now, Al.Later
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Wishing him a complete recovery and sending good vibes his way.I read a lot of stuff about Jackson working on the card blog. I had known, or heard his name, as a kid, but didn't really know his contributions to baseball or much else about the man (he was just one of those original Mets to me for many years). What I learned gave me a new found respect for him. What a great baseball person, and much better pitcher than his years with the Mets portray. Get well soon Mr. Jackson. I don't think I've ever known a Mets organization that you weren't a part of.

Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I had the opportunity to interview Al once, when he was a coach with the Orioles. Very nice man! And I got to see the inside of the visitors clubhouse at Tiger Stadium.
