Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Mets up 1-0 with two out in the third over the Rangers, who haven't yet gotten a scratch against Jacob deGrom. That's what you get for not dealing us a shortstop, jerks.Mets have something like their expected opening day lineup, with Lagares leading off, Tejada playing second and batting eighth, and deGrom batting ninth.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Watching, in the fourth. And The Wizard Of Oz is on TV. If Murph isn't ready my vote goes to Reynolds if it's going to be any more than 3 games. Let Reynolds get hot, send Mr T down when Muffy returns. Let Tejeda get everyday at short down on the farm.Monell doubles to deeeeeeep right center.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Whoa. How did that not take his head off?

So he can get some shortstop experience? He's the only experienced shortstop they have. By far.

Mets trail 5_1 in the 9th but singles from Newhan (!!) And Gomez and a walk by Beltran has loaded them up for Endy. Dempster losing his shot on the mound.Sorry, missed a chunk of this game. It's the 7th already?I'm getting it thru the Rangers feed thru MLB.TV.Course Lags was safe. Grandy ropes one! AND HES BEING WAVED IN!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 That's a lot of character in Mike Maddux's face these days.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 4-0 Mets. Grandy & Wright rippin it up. Mayberry in for Curtis, scores the fourth run on a failed DP by Texas. I am surprised we got that call at second.

I'd really be surprised if Reck goes to heck.Nice play Newy. And a pretty nice play by Mayberry before that. I'm liking Mayberry off the bench more and more. Edited April 3, 2015 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Nieuwenhuis flashing some Juan Lagares-trademarked go-gettum skills.Make a catch like that, you've got to pay Laggy some money.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Not a strong inning for Familia, but he gets the call for strike three.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Is it me or does the atmosphere surrounding the Texas Rangers reek of suckage?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I don't know if it's the new approach or what, but even in the scoreless innings, Familia continues to look a little shaky.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 They have to bundle up for the low 60's? Cripes. Texan wussies.

Didn't look happy.It was odd.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 The Rangers booth is describing Mayberry, Jr. as "not quite the same type of player his father is," suggesting he doesn't cut quite the imposing figure.According baseball-reference.com, Junior is three inches taller and twenty pounds bigger.

By far.If Flores is the shortstop and we got Muno and Reynolds in the wings, release him as far as I'm concerned. Did he really come into ST overweight? I'm through with Tejeda. He only does just enough to get by, and he has had every chance to be our shortstop. Course I'm not the GM & good thing too.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Mejia looks much more convincing w/o the wacky hair.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Little DeShields looks a little more than a little like Big DeShields. Only, ironically, bigger. (Or thicker, anyway.)

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I think Mejia looks shakier than Familia. Both get the job done tho.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Fat Tejada sort of a two-year-old narrative, continually dug up because he's a favorite guy to dump on.But there's really been nothing supporting it.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I've pretty much supported Mr.T in all his endeavors with the Mets. If it wasn't for some of the players I'm seeing behind him, I probably wouldn't be saying this, but I'm done with Tejeda. It's nothing personal. I just want to see more of Reynolds and Muno.Is Muno the South Jersey kid?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Mets soundly take a Ranger team that looked about a month behind them as far as preparedness.Twenty straight scoreless innings for the Mets. deGrom went four innings, giving up one hit, striking out four, walking none.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Weirdly, Verrett makes the start and takes the loss.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Anything that manipulates the wind patterns for a little Verrett boomerang effect is good.
