Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 It's not my place to put up this thread, but it hasn't gone up yet, and it oughta, because the Mets just dropped and 8-ball on the Marlins in the second inning.Mat Latos on the mound and the Mets hit it all over the place. Homer (yawn, again) for Cuddyer, tripboom for Muno. Two-run single for Tejada, who is hitting .324.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Any day where Mat Latos gets smacked around is a good day as far as I'm concerned, whether in spring training, regular season, post-season, the parking lot outside a Trader Joe's, doesn't matter.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 2 2Bs 2day for Recker ... but will it be enough to secure his spot on the team after a 4/27 (1 XBH) start to his Spring -- especially vs Monell's .379/.419/.724 month of March?

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 I'm a believer in that protocol.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 For the regular season, gotta go with it.I'm encouraged with all this asskicking we've been doing lately.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 Wild pisch by ex-Met Pat Misch and the Mets have double digits in runs.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 Four innings and two earned runs for deGrom.Nice to see Ichiro not providing on both offense and defense today. Love the guy, but love more that the Marlins have elected to float him for a year while he's a shell of his former self.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 Holy moly. Two-run homer for Muno.

Best BA & OBA in MLB this spring.I know you can't count on that to continue all year but it's at least evidence that they've got a decent chance to be closer to the top of the heap than the bottom in them categories.THREE doubles for Recker this afternoon.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Granderson is looking much better this spring. Hope that carries over.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 Monell replaces Recker. I'm not sure if that was planned or the Mets are adhering to some sort of mercy rule.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 From what I've read Monell hit more than well enough to make the Orioles a few springs ago but Buck couldn't abide by his D.He had 2 passed balls receiving Familia the other day. Not sure what kinda gun he's got but you figure, probably at or below average. His thing is, power and hustle. Along with a few HRs he's got a few infield singles this spring.Recker (and don't look now, but d'Arnaud) have been barely hitting at all this spring, but interesting that potentially you could swap them both out for a the Plawecki-Johnny team if necessary.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 Special congratulations to today's floaties, pitcher Chase Huchingson and catcher Jeff Glenn, who each made their debut with the SpringMets. Huchingson pitched a scoreless ninth. In other bullpen news, Buddy Carlyle got his first blemish, giving up one of two Mike Morse homers. His ERA ballooned to a still-impressive 1.42.Morse may be overlooked as a possible upsetter in the division balance of power.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
