Wilpon sure expects a lot for 95 million dollars ... as if Collins ever did one fifitieth of the damage to the Mets that Wilpon's done. I guess Collins gets no free pass for being saddled with the box of junk he's been managing from day one.

Rubin of all people declared this a non-story, saying Fred does this kind of crap every year.

I guess the surprise is he's about; I suspected he was in poor health given the lower profile.

It's about the only place Fred is visible , PSL during ST....hard to get past Sherman's ball washing of Steinbrenner ....it is a nothing story....the boss went into his managers office ..."listen we got Cuddyer and Harvey is back".....

It very well could be a nothing story. But how would anyone know for sure? Terry's gonna downplay the meeting and make it sound like nothing more than a routine chat about the weather no matter what the hell Wilpon said. Terry's play by play, therefore, isn't very trustworthy.

I agree Batnag, I have always advocated for Terry to be at the helm with a Mets team expected to go places , is this that team?, I am not convinced ......still , the jig might be up if they don't .

I just got the idea that this was Terry Collins attempting to pump the team and project the idea that they are all expecting a successful season. So I told Fred that he's going to like what he sees and he's expecting to.

Hell, even I've seen him around and who am I?

It's really a non-story, but you get a lot of those in Spring Training (And even during the season too). "Here's something to talk about that's not really very meaningful"

and obviously any mention of Wilpon in any capacity immediately leads to other topics almost pavlovianly.
