come on guys, let's talk about this..

I've only been half listening. Puello cut someone down at the plate then Freeman 3-run homerd.

Bartolo hits his limit.

Nieuwenhuis has two walks in two appearances, with the Mets' only run. If any of this carries over into 2015, 'twould be nice.

Flores makes way for Reynolds.

Leaves the game with a .429 spring batting average.

Reynolds singled and scored and is batting .462.

Pack your bags Ruben (.077).

And Braves 3, Mets 2 is your final, with all the Braves runs coming off the bat of Frederico Freeman with two out in the third.

Mets got cap on their walkishness, giving free passes to only three Braves, while walking four times themselves.

Buddy Carlyle threw two scoreless innings. Dario Alvarez, now in serious competition for a bullpen job, threw a perfect inning, striking out one. All three guys he faced were authentic, legitimate MLB Braves starters, the first two being lefties, the last was a righty, and he struck that guy out.

Alex Castellanos returned to action, playing both third and outfield, after seemingly breaking a finger on a hit-by-pitch last week.

I'd be really surprised and disappointed if the Mets dumped Tejada. That would leave them crossing their fingers with anybody they put at shortstop. They need at least one guy who isn't faking it out there.

Rule 1 - Don't make rash decisions based on March results
Rule 2 - Especially don't make rash decisions based on the first week of March results.

Yeah, but all the same I continue to not get the Ruben thing. This team needs its reserve shortstop to be a LH/switch hitting, base-stealing, versatile, bunting, glove-y type. Rubie isn't any of those things.

Ruben plays the position well, plays 2B, gets on base more than the league average.

It'd be nice if he hit lefty, it's one of the reasons I don't favor Campbell for the CI job, especially because Flores is hardly a lock and if you're going to sit him games it'd be nice to do it for platoon splits instead of your own pitcher's splits.

But eh on the SB and bunting. I'll take the better player over the guy that needs to manufacture runs. Tejada's not fast, but it's not lumbering either, he's not going to clog the bases and he can probably score from first if he pinch-walks and Lagares or Murphy drives a double.

Sure, now we just have to find one of those.

With Flores as the starting shortstop and Campbell as the nominal third stringer, I'll be OK if the second stringer is a glove first guy.

The way I see is that he's not getting the job that would otherwise go to Reynolds, but the job that would otherwise go to Tovar.
