G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Notoriously slow upon arrival. Then not particularly Trachselian most outings. More useful than would've dreamed. Good luck back where the Rising Sun lands.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Funky to see somebody being so close to released saving his skin in one performance like Matsuzaka did on September 8 against Cleveland. (I initially couldn't come up with any parallels, but Chris Young saved himself with a single game twice this season, it seemed.)Credit to the Mets for sticking with him when nobody else watching saw anything worth keeping.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 It's no surprise to me how "unexpectedly" hale his late-career appearances with us were, considering how much walking he did.I don't recall seeing a single Gyroball, though.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I remember him pitching so slowly that SNY had a Matsuclocka to time him between pitches some time in 2013.Inconsistent, but with some gems sprinkled in here and there.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 You were never sure if you were going to get Good Dice-K or Bad Dice-K. Useful in spurts, and despite his erratic use never told Terry Collins to f*ck himself, at least not in English.

I case you're interested, when I was in the Army, a guy from Hawaii told me that the Japanese words for that are (I'm trying to do this phonetically, and its been a long time): eye-ICK-a-tie. And I have no way of verifying this.As for Dice-K, He was fun to watch.Later
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Considering they got him for nothing, I think he did a nice job. I remember the awful first couple starts, then suddenly getting it together. He exceeded expectations, which is a nice thing.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 He was the closer for about 15 minutes.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Dice-Kloser! Great IGT, even if it was only 53 posts.
