Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 SCHAEFER METS PLAYERS OF THE MONTH, JULY 2014The Schaefer Mets Player of the Month for July 2014 is LUCAS DUDA. This is Lucas' second win. He had previously won in August 2011 and, incidentally, was the Bench Player of the Month just last month. Duda led the Mets in July with 7 home runs, 17 runs scored, and 19 runs batted in. He batted .293, with an OBP of .396 and a slugging percentage of .610.The Schaefer Mets Pitcher of the Month is JACOB deGROM. This is the second time Jacob has won this award. His previous win was in May of this year. DeGrom was 4-1 in five July starts, with a 1.39 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 32.1 innings. The Schaefer Mets Relief Pitcher of the Month is CARLOS TORRES. Carlos won with a comfortable margin, helped largely by the 2.39 points he earned in his extended relief appearance on July 1, the day that Jon Niese made an early exit. This is the third time that Torres has been Reliever of the Month, and somewhere Brian Stokes is starting to get nervous. The Schaefer Mets Bench Player of the Month for July is CHRIS YOUNG. Chris earned a total of 3.94 Schaefer points in July, and 2.35 of them came in games that he did not start, which topped Eric Campbell's 1.73 points.Updated award winner standings, with this month's winners in bold:PLAYER OF THE MONTHDavid Wright 14Johan Santana 6Carlos Beltran 5Jose Reyes 5R. Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Wow. That Duda card is a dead ringer for the Seaver issue that year. Actually several of the players-leaning-on-the-dugout-rail-in-sunlight series.Actually it was the 75 cards that had that pose.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Surprisingly low score for Murphy, not just that he was in 6th place for the month but that there's such a gap points-wise between him and the top.Lucas Duda, suddenly a contender for 2014 PotY!!
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Chris Young appears to be using the same model novelty bat Judah Friedlander grabbed from the concession stand en route to the 7 train in Sharknado 2.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 C Young gets an award coming in 17th???Otherwise great job as always...
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Well, it's for coming in first. First among players coming off the bench.
