Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Not expecting Gary Cooper to show up even though it's at High Noon. I mean, you never know, but even back when Ralph used to call Gary Carter 'Gary Cooper' every once in a while I don't think Gary Cooper ever showed up.Being dead since before the Mets were ever invented might have something to do with that.Wheeler vs KendrickI think we can beat Kendrick up.He doesn't look like much of a pitcher to me and, besides, is only listed at 5' 2"[fimg=400:33isy3uj]http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131019094655/twilightsaga/images/4/4c/Anna_Kendrick.jpg[/fimg:33isy3uj]

Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 True confession time. I realized recently that I've not watched/listened to a Mets game since RA Dickey's 20th win, which was September 27, 2012. I hadn't intended to do this, just found that I have very limited time to follow sports these days and with my son an obsessive Red Sox fan, the little baseball I do follow is Sox-related. Anyhow, I'm listening today's game at work today. Someone want to tell me who all these players are?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Curtis Granderson - former Detroit Tiger and played for some other team before coming to the Mets. Lefty. Power guy. Started slow but having a good season. Supposedly a really good guy.Daniel Murphy - This guy's been around a while. you should know him. He's playing second these days.Captain America (Though he hasn't become black)Lucas Duda - best hitter on the team this season. One of the best sluggers in the league this year. Little goofy. Plays first base these days. Travis d'Arnaud - Catching prospect that's been traded for two Cy Young winners. Mets got him for Dickey. Started slow, been good since a brief stint in the minors. Great framer.Chris Young - "Take a flyer" type guy that can play all three outfield positions. High-K, High-Power guy though lacking a lot of the power this year. He's hit okay recently, but he's on a one year deal and might not make it to September.Juan Lagares - One of the best defensive CFers in the game. dealt with some nagging injuries and since his last return hasn't been hitting/walking quite enough. Ruben Tejada - This guy makes out less often than the average major league player, so keeps he line moving. Decent defense at short. Best option there the Mets have, but that's faint praise. Zack Wheeler - stud SP acquired from the Giants for half a season of Carlos Beltran. Had his ups and downs this year, but plenty of promise and should be an interesting buddy-comedy narrative with Matt Harvey (Another stud young SP getting his Tommy John out of the way this season) going forward.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Author Posted July 30, 2014 Nice getting the sweet end of a 7th inning debacle for a change. We spent far too many years being on the wrong side of those exchanges more often than not.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Mets opening up the gates here.Ruben Tejada is a perfect 3-3 with a walk today and has a little proposed shortstop trade he'd like to tell Mex about.
